I mean Venezuela went socialist. And a number of european countries are socialist. We see how badly it failed for Venezuela cuz of the corrupt ass leaders who just used all that tax money for their own gain.
European countries can survive being socialist (despite extremely high costs of living compared to america) because they have a far smaller wealth gap and they don't have to invest heavily into their military since they are protected by America.
I think Venezuela failed because of how weak their economy was to begin with.
America's economy right now, relative to the rest of the world, is pretty strong. If we were to turn socialist I think the people would not go down without a fight, I know I was out their marching, donating, trying to help change things when I could. Everyone has a camera, everyone knows someone, everyone has an opinion. I just dont see government corruption going very far in America.
Unless it straight out turns to a dictatorship, thats the only option. With the whole world watching, man that might as well be WW3. Problem is we have the strongest military so s***, Hitler all over again? We gotta make sure to have someone like Bernie in office if we ever do go socialist
or we can work to change the world so we can comfortably enjoy any product we want without being reminded of the fact that children are making that s*** to go hungry
well yeah that would be ideal but prolly will take a long time to happen
also need these products to be affordable to everyone. hate how we have to pay a premium for healthier foods or ethical/sustainable products when it should just be the norm and not a luxury.

nah Venezuela failed because they had corrupt ass leaders who took that extra tax money and funneled it into d*** trafficking efforts. And then those dumbasses got caught and sanctioned to hell so the entire country went into shambles.
If we went socialist, I have zero trust that these democratic socialists won't just expand the role and power of the government (AOC's Green New Deal involves massive hiring for new government roles) that will then assume bigger influence and control over everyone to get their agendas passed. If anything, I expect most people in the country will get poorer since a socialist rule would f*** corporations over, which in turn would f*** employer benefits and the stock market which hurts about half the country greatly.
Free healthcare might be nice but there wouldn't be much point in free college when most corporations would cut their hiring numbers which would just lead to a higher unemployment rate. I think this might benefit the bottom 15-20% of America a good deal and it will close the wealth gap for sure, but I expect this will deeply hurt 40-50% of America while leaving the rest mostly unaffected.
wtf r y’all talking about😩😩
The Sun isn’t reliable whatsoever, though; LOL.
Because the community doesn't give a s*** about who is elected in their government. It is evident when we have white supremacists, pedophiles, and rapists in our congress and state depts. Politicians that are getting in have so many connections already and tend to win thanks to how much money they can throw around to get voted in.
It is much better they aren't the ones getting money because it would be far worse than just a corporation getting a politician to vote in favor of some bill they want. We saw enough cases of "trillions of dollars lost in accounting errors" headlines during the Obama presidency to know what happens when the gov gets even a little extra tax money.
yes, but the US government is nowhere nearly as accountable as it should be because of the reagan era and 50 years of corporate lobbying rotting the country from within, coupled with a total cutoff of public funds going towards things such as infrastructure and education
a strong, accountable government is something that is needed

AOC is the last person I would be worrying about bro
TGND is mostly focusing on hiring environmentalists into these new government positions so why would you be worrying about them
How badly will the hurt be to 40-50% of the people though... they might get some paycuts, but with the value of everything going down that won't be a huge problem
Never in my life I went
"i could use a rihanna album right now"
so go get your money Queen!
I miss just a few months ago when politics weren't brought up in every f***ing thread

A strong government would never in any world want to get rid of lobbying. They want to only get richer and more powerful and corporate money will help them in both.
Reagan era and corporate lobbying is enough proof of that.

I mean I really don't see how american cost of living would go down because of socialism when most european countries have far higher cost of living than us. Socialism would only increase the cost of living because the money needed to maintain all these new programs would be extremely high. They will charge absurd tax rates and then start charging higher taxes on corporations and businesses causing all value of goods to go up because thats the only way they will survive. This is exactly what has happened in most European countries and they barely get by thanks to having a low population. But with us, it would be even worse than them.
