Yo do not start with 7, the game did not age well and it might guarantee you never touch the rest of the series again. I agree with starting at 2 or 4.
it’s a great one to start with tbh, if you didn’t like 7 there’s no way you’re gonna f*** with at least half of 9. At minimum I’d say RE2/4/7 if you want to experience all aspects of the series, 1 if you just want the classic experience
fair enough, I like the Baker family section of 7 but everything after that
Happy birthday tape was the peak of the game
play the games in order dont listen to anyone else
You can skip 5 and 6 though lol

Saw they made a fixed camera angles mod for re2 remake ages ago. Need to try that

I never played it co op maybe thats why my experience was hindered
See the amount of critic scores, all the Nintendo shills got that game early. The score will drop once it's out.

No point since 7 & 8 are their own storylines with their own set of characters and antagonists (minus Chris). Gameplay is unremarkable, enemies are bullet sponges, story is nonsense EVEN for RE standards and the worst mainline protagonist (yes worse than Billy or Pierce) in the series. All the Grace sections played in first person in Requiem put 7 & 8 to shame. Still worth playing but definitely not before Remake, 2 or 4.

playing solo is a completely different experience. Interested to see if that stays in tact when Capcom remakes the game
Okay, just finished, 9.3 hrs on classic difficulty. Game peaked early with the Grace section in the care center (before going down to the basement). Probably the closest we've gotten back to the levels of survival horror design mastery of Spencer mansion & the RPD imo. Still a great time overall.
Going back to RC was hype, but didnt really live up to expectations. Found it quite bland visually in the environments and enemies, especially grating for such a long stretch of game. Even with a more open TLOU2-esque approach, the level design ends up being stiff and cramped, not dense enough. Some nooks and crannies where Leon should be able to vault over some knee-high railing to reach - he cannot, in other similar places he can, seems amateurish and made in a rush. For the combat arenas especially, I was hoping we'd get something akin to the best RE4 levels (intro village, water room, etc.) where it's a whole playground you maneuver your way through with hordes of enemies running after you. Instead it reminds me of the more linear RE5 levels. I don't think it was outrageously bad or smth, just felt there's a lot of missed potential to expand on the series' formula.
I still think using a dual protagonist system to highlight the two different gameplay philosophies of the series was a great idea, but could've been executed better. In the first half, the long stretches with tense and scrappy Grace gameplay intertwined with the bursts of shorter action-packed Leon levels work incredibly well. I honestly wish they stuck close to this balance throughout the whole game.
Current power ranking of the last crop of REleases:
4R > 2R > 9 > 7 > 8 > 3R

Waiting for a modder to make it night time during the Raccoon City parts and raining or something lol. Would have made it so much more atmospheric. Could also do with more s*** to kill. It felt so barren.
I didn’t play all of 8 but RE7 was one of the wildest experiences I’ve ever had with a video game
