Finished CV for the first time, honestly expected it to be a lot better, if there was a RE game in need of a remake its def this one. Still ended positive on it, that OG formula is too good, but with a few caveats. Might be some light spoilers for the upcoming remake.

The first island section with Claire is actually pretty fun and classic, even though the level design is not as tight as the OG 1-3, because they try to stretch it over a much larger area. When you get to play as Chris its becomes a total slog. Lots and lots of prolonged and obnoxious backtracking, revisiting rooms you've already been into and yada yada.

The character switching is a bit jarring and not very well telegraphed, which creates a few noob traps where if you haven't offloaded the powerful guns into the storage box, they are stuck on whatever character you previously played and soon you come into particular encounters/bosses where it feels you're cutting it a bit close or get straight up annihilated. Didn't manage to unlock the magnum because I had a fire extinguisher stuck in Claire's inventory lol.

Story is quite bad, even by RE standards, but it didn't bother me that much. Also this is where they jumped off from pre-rendered backgrounds to real time 3D, and imo its for the worse. CV hasn't aged as well as the prev ones and it lacks that bit of flair in the rooms and puzzles. Save room theme is def one of the best though. Curious to see what changes they make come next year.
