I'll never understand why some of you think an album only having 10-12 songs will automatically make it a classic album or even make it a good listen
GOOD Music dropped like half a dozen 7-track albums back in 2018 and only about 2 of them were decent.
J. Cole has been dropping 12-track albums since 2014. He dropped another in 2016, another in 2018, another in 2021 and another in 2024 and the only album that is even remotely close to being seen as essential to his catalog or classic-adjacent is the 2014 album.
Tyler, the Creator just dropped a forgettable-ass 10-track album.
You should be hoping for an album that's strong, has a lot of highlights and is compelling enough for you to keep coming back to and leave your expectations open at that. You guys will always be disappointed with whatever Drake does because he's the only one y'all put these ridiculous expectations on, even down to how many songs the albums he drops must have for you to think they're good.
Whatever happened to leaving an artist to do whatever they feel they need to do and going into receiving their work with an open mind?

Imagine wanting your favorite artist or an artist you really like to drop 30-40 mins worth of music every 4 years đ crazy

Everyone is different but I'll never understand that. That's like saying you only wanna watch your favourite NBA player play 40 games a season or only play 1 season every 4 years but hey, man.

Again, youâre all missing the point. Focusing all your attention on making 12 great tracks is better than recording constantly to fill out a 25 song album when most of them a filler or extremely subpar. Itâs not about the number, itâs about putting all the focus and attention into a smaller pool of songs to make them as good as humanly possibly. We donât need f***ing IFGAFâs , Meet Your Padreâs , Gentlyâs etc.
If Drake set out from the start to make a concise album, he would be putting all his creative focus on just those songs instead. Itâs not automatically about âless songs = betterâ. I donât know whatâs so hard for you all to understand that

Again, completely missing the point. I swear some of Yaâll are extremely dense when it comes to music creation

no one says a short album is automatically good
people are just tired of bloated albums that arent enjoyable to listen to front to back because of filler and skips
its disingenuous as hell to act like both of those things are the same lol

The point you seem to be missing is that all of that is relative. What counts as a great/really good song to Drake might be forgettable to you. And stop acting like many of Drake's beloved albums don't have many tracks. So Far Gone has 18 songs. Take Care has 18. IYRTITL has 17. Views has 20. CLB has 21.
Even when Drake has made short projects (DLDT, TML, HN, HL), there's always 2-3 songs you could do without or which aren't as great as the best songs on the album.
You guys are hoping he magically makes a album with 10 songs that you'll all love but when was the last time you got a project like that from anybody?

Who are these "people" you speak of? The ones who have always hated on Drake and don't think he has any good albums? Those people?
Most Drake fans would prefer a 16-20 track album from him than a 10-track album. Why? Because they know he doesn't need to drop a 10-track album to make a great album and they want as many songs from him as possible.
mfs be arguing just to argue. how are yall mad that niggas want a concise album?

I can listen to all of Drake's 20+ track albums from front to back without skipping a single track. While that doesn't mean I enjoy every song evenly, I also have to say that this is also the case for the shorter more focused albums.
There is no album out there where every song is a 10/10 imo.
I want as much music from my fav artists as possible.
I would also be fine, f Drake released more songs as singles or just more but shorter albums. But as history shows you usually get one big album with mixed styles per year and that's what I expect this time around as well.

This a large reason y'all opinion invalid, because artists usually make a bunch of music and select the ones they connect to. Y'all putting these imaginary parameters on creation is not only a limiter in art but one in life
Who cares IDGAF is the 3rd worst song of all time, just skip it
But MYP is peak, niggas uncultured frfr

Theyâre so accustomed to the slop at this point that its now considered the norm for Drake

the people posting that exact sentiment in this thread
drake is in my top 20 listened artists and i also feel this way. its a great coping method to tune out every opinion you dont agree with but that doesnt mean a lot of people dont feel that way.

If you ask me, people overuse the terms filler and âskipsâ
Like everyone has the same taste in music
and trying to classify a song as an instant hit or a skip based on your impression of it when you listen to it for the first time at midnight
I really enjoy long albums, especially when itâs from an artist thats versatile like Drake
I feel like people who overly praise short albums just say that because they know most artists lack a true vision and if most people tried to make a 16-22 track album it wouldnât be focused
To me, Drake doesnât typically have that issue

probably cause it involves confronting the fact hes been making tracklists geared towards getting as many streams as possible instead of making the highest quality album for like 6 or 7 years now. guaranteed if he dropped something concise they would be all on his d*** for doing so lol
IDGAF ass but A lot of people like it for some reason. Meet your padre is f***ing fire.
Mi amor I'm not someone that you can ignore

Thats cap though
Drakes first mixtapes that were dropped before streaming existed were still around 18-20 tracks

of course its subjective, not everyone is going to agree on which songs are filler. but anyone who enjoys listening to albums back to front get a poor experience skipping 30% of the damn thing. donda and cartiâs music have this same problem too.

Weâll get straight rap drake when his muse is some obsessed hip hop purist
