Not to mention how commonplace really long albums have become.

Here are some examples:
Morgan Wallen's last 3 albums had 30, 36 and 37 songs respectively.
Chris Brown's last 4 albums had 57, 43, 35 and 35 songs respectively.
Taylor Swift's last album had 31 songs on the streaming version and 35 songs on the physical version.
SZA's last album had 44 songs.
Gunna just dropped a 25 track album.
NBA YoungBoy just dropped a 30 track album.

People can say whatever they want about shorter albums but the general public doesn't give a f*** and more and more artists are releasing massive albums and doubling down with equally massive deluxe editions.

If you wanna drop a 10-12 track album, that's fine, but massive albums are very commonplace now in the industry.

Exactly, no real fan wants less music from their favorite artist. I only hear this short album critique from onliners who want an arbitrary reason to hate. I’ve never listened to a Drake album and wished it was shorter

Same. I've wished certain songs were taken out and replaced by better songs but I've never listened an album I thoroughly enjoyed and wished it was shorter. Same thing with movies/TV shows from my favorite writers, directors, producers. You want them to last longer because you enjoy them.

You've got someone like Taylor Swift, who since 2019 has released:
Lover
Folklore
Evermore
Fearless TV (with 6 previously unreleased tracks)
Red TV (with 9 previously unreleased tracks)
Midnights
Speak Now TV (with 6 previously unreleased tracks)
1989 TV (with 5 previously unreleased tracks)
The Tortured Poets Department
The Life of a Showgirl

And her fans will take whatever extra music she drops lol.

I bet you, if Iceman turns out to be some 10-track affair, most Drake fans would complain A LOT. Not only is that not what they're used to from him, they don't want that from him at all.

Yep. I haven’t seen one Taylor Swift fan complain about the length of ttpd. They're just happy to get more music from their favorite artist and continue to run the numbers up with each new alternate cover. There world be a riot in Drake fandom if he does an actual album rollout for once but then comes back with a 10-12 songs album, and for good reason too. F*** that!

I just think drake could definitely benefit this time from making a definitive statement

10 - 12 tracks, all classics, zero filler, where everyone will remember every song and it's reason for being on the album

Make em all hang on every bar

One or two features at most

A solid theme throughout, reclaim anyone who was on the fence

Make it undeniable, maybe start with a 30 track album and cut it down to 12, idk quality all round over quantity and it'll have staying power too
