It's not an entirely ridiculous argument but people seem to think that the shorter an album is, the better it automatically becomes and that couldn't be more wrong.

There are dozens of short and concise albums that don't leave a lasting impression on listeners and then there are some that do. They should instead spend more time hoping that regardless of if an album is short or not, there are enough highlights and standout moments that make the album a worthwhile listening experience and something they can keep coming back to.

Nobody said that shorter = better, and anyone who has is wrong. The issue is that Drake has been dropping bloated projects for basically a decade straight now and people are just tired of seeing a 20+ song tracklist every time Drake has a new studio album out

This whole idealizing "classic" albums also dumb as s*** to me. Just receive the music the way it was given to you. All that other nerd ass a la carte classic conversation treads into fanfiction more times than not

If you want a real point then the discussion should be about when appreciation turns into envy and how that emotion dictates how some listeners internalize music. Also how each person contributes to that

But I'm sure arguing the same points that's been argued on here for years is better

The Unc Gramps gimmick just doesn’t hit the same in ‘25. He needs an undeniable funny alt account, not just something a few losers think is funny. He's definitely capable, only time will tell.

Maybe he just needs to disrespect a dead person or dox someone. I know he has it in him.

I predicted the album dropping on his birthday months ago lol. Just seems too cool a date to not drop.

I personally feel less inclined to listen if it looks and smells like the artist put 20+ songs on an album just for the sake of boosting the numbers. And usually symptoms of this are stuff like having more than a fair share of features, having half the tracks clock in at less than 2 minutes each

Whereas I automatically assume these days that an album with less than 5 features and no more than 14 tracks at most, 12 or fewer preferably... actually has something to say worth listening to

It's probably shallow on my part, but I'm usually more right than wrong in thinking the shorter albums have quite obviously been through a more rigorous process of quality control, that, or at least the album isn't sounding all over the place

Good for you. The general public evidently don’t feel like that so you can see why Drake and Drake fans don’t care. Most of his beloved albums are really long. You’re screaming into the void for no apparent reason

Not to mention how commonplace really long albums have become.

    Here are some examples:
    Morgan Wallen's last 3 albums had 30, 36 and 37 songs respectively.
    Chris Brown's last 4 albums had 57, 43, 35 and 35 songs respectively.
Taylor Swift's last album had 31 songs on the streaming version and 35 songs on the physical version.
SZA's last album had 44 songs.
Gunna just dropped a 25 track album.
NBA YoungBoy just dropped a 30 track album.

People can say whatever they want about shorter albums but the general public doesn't give a f*** and more and more artists are releasing massive albums and doubling down with equally massive deluxe editions.

If you wanna drop a 10-12 track album, that's fine, but massive albums are very commonplace now in the industry.
