Every song beautiful on its own and the whole thing played front to back is dope.

Also on the old KTT someone did a mastered version of it which made it even better IMO.

It makes plenty of sense. I’m not sure why Kendrick stans ignore that a lot of people have an issue with the way he went about Auntie Diaries.

But when you pander politically you are bound to get the backlash eventually. These reviewers are the exact type to bash Kendrick for not being progressive ‘enough’.

there has to be SOME component to rating music that rests in an albums ability to be played back again and again and again. this album is FANTASTIC when you wanna really be in a bag about life, but the FW numbers reflect this is not something the wider majority audience will be listening to on a daily basis.

edit: and tbf im not sure that component necessarily should impact the "rating" of the music. i just think it can be acknowledged on the side,

No one is ignoring that people have an issue with the song. But by what he wrote, he’s implying that Kendrick should have written the song from his relatives’ perspectives and not his own. What type of critique is that?

I’m convinced Kendrick is not really making albums he’s creating theatre pieces. They sound better as a whole (rather than singles) and they are very conversational/expositional.

Sometimes albums get sent in prior to the commercial release date.

I personally don’t think Kendrick was trying to insult the trans community - it doesn’t take much nuance to see that. But the people he’s trying to appease are so dimwitted that just by using the f-word they’ll write him off.

Ironically, that should show Kendrick that context matters and he himself was wrong for what he did to that fan on the stage who was only there to show him love, not to call anyone an n-word to denigrate them.

Was the write up really that off? Yeah they got their s***lib points in but they're right that Kendrick paints an unfocused portrait of himself and what it is he's looking to immolate
