Pitchfork has always been absolutely WOAT when it comes to reviewing hip hop
But they've just flat out become horrible in general the last 5 years. They've become hyper focused on feeding into some cac-woke agenda that they've lost sight of reviews focused on whether the music is good or not.
it’s pretty self-explanatory tbh
the way he tells the story, it’s like he’s begging the listener to applaud him as a hero for not using a slur anymore (while using that slur to get his point across??)
going from “bad” to “the bare minimum” isn’t applause-worthy
If Kodak wasn’t on the album you wouldn’t even be saying this.
I know you
"he makes himself the main character in his queer relatives’ stories "
what did they mean by this
That’s so unlike kendrick

Let me guess, the mfs that talk down on critics are now d***riding them? I don’t even gotta read the thread. Ktt just go with whatever narrative fit their arguments lol.

Different writer.
This writer has never given anything above a 7 in their reviews.
The writer that reviewed this wouldn't have given bad bunny an 8.
P4k couldnt keep the lights on at their offices if ktt stopped reading their reviews

They could be
I only read pages 18 and 19. So I’ll take your word on that.

this is such a bad faith, uncharitable way to look at this song lmao
As always f*** P4K… but other reviewers still pay attention to them so expect the average score on meta to drop significantly imo. Could be the start of the critical downfall of Kendrick Lamar
Should’ve been higher, at least an 8.5. It’s a 9.5 or even a 10 in my book. I’d bet pitchfork bumped it down mainly because of his use of the f-word
Yep.
Thank you Pitchfork, for providing free therapy to the stans that base their enjoyment of an album over what the critics rate it.

Nah lol Pitchfork literally the only publication to give it a lower score so far and probably will be the only one. Everyone else I’ve see has been ridiculously high.
