PurrpFinally saw Hard Eight for the first time. I’m … not impressed ngl. Couldn’t help but check the run time every so often. Still I can see the foundation for some of his signature camera and character work in his later films and it’s not a bad film it’s just paced weirdly to me
The next week will be rewatch time for the rest of his filmography. I’m excited to see how Boogie Nights has aged for me next
It almost feels like a writing exercise, like something he cooked up in film school. His only film that's less than peak.

Everestleo is doing unthinkable things to ensure this movie gets seen. hes descending into levels of hell that no one deserves to be in. for the movies sake, i hope it makes a difference.

Hard Eight is awesome, PTA was 24 years old when he made it. I barely knew how to file my taxes when I was 24.
