There is a Netflix and WB backed hate campaign against theatrical releases
I fear we're nearing the end times folks
Nooooooooooooo
was variety reporting on the financial situation on The electric state months before it released?
it think it’s as simple as there’s interest in terms of traffic in sussing out potential flops, the Russo’s movie got pulverized for the budget so I don’t if that’s a great example of a double standard
Nope, but they "reported" on Mickey 17 countless times and will do the same for this one
for sure this movie was being circled for months due to the budget & then on impact the budget + promo budget were disclosed in headlines & I was thinking to myself since when do they do that

Chase Infiniti a great rap name

Pulverized by film twitter and KTT maybe. The people that are gloating about Mickey 17 and potentially this flopping are not the same
Nooooooooooooo
The writing is on the wall
Netflix and Warner Bros have the media on their side now, and they're doing a wonderful job of convincing the absolute dumbest people society has to offer that box office numbers directly correlate with quality and that they somehow have a material effect on their lives
Sarandos and Zaslav have made their goals very clear, they're not shy about their mission at all. They want theaters gone, and they're going to finance legendary directors, sabotage their rollouts, and then use them as their scapegoats
Pulverized by film twitter and KTT maybe. The people that are gloating about Mickey 17 and potentially this flopping are not the same
people fascinated about big budget movies failing can overlap different demos, just like there’s a damn sales thread on here that’s very active & a boom of seemingly infinite chart accounts on twitter, not that I think your sentiment here is really off base or anything

I don't really think you can equate movies to music. There isn't some big industry push to stop certain genres from being made or to force people to listen to music on their phone rather than their laptop or whatever
I just can't possibly understand why random people with no ties to the entertainment industry whatsoever would be gloating about films from respected directors flopping. These people are the ones that are going to dictate the future of this industry, and their #1 priority is Netflix slop that they can turn on as background noise while they scroll TikTok.
S/O to Boots man
tbf no film that's doing test screenings is "done." The article is talking more about an active argument with apparent shouting matches between De Luca and Abdy over the film's post-production and testing than it it is curious about where PTA actually is in his process
i have doubt PTA could debunk what they're sayin here, but overall agree with Boots last part of why this has to be included

To me, all the negative press is either coming directly from De Luca or Abdy as they try to distance themselves from a potential flop to save their jobs…or somebody inside of WB that would benefit from De Luca and Abdy being fired.
None of it matters though as the movie is going to break even at the very least and they’re panicking for no reason. I can’t imagine general audiences don’t f*** with it

I don't think this is really a make a break film tho they'll have already had to face Sinners and Superman by then.
I feel like a lot of this comes down to WB having a target on its head that is borderline self-inflicted do to its own damage to relationship with creatives the last few years. Prob someone inside looking to speed their exit. WB has never stopped being a toxic work place even under Zaslav.
As happy as i am films like this are being made, they did make some very eyebrow raising deals no other studio would offer. This is a juicy story that compounds with each new notable WB release and they don't have allies to save them

Boots a real nigga
If we’re being real gray characters are always the best. The ones who aren’t 100% good and also not 100% bad.
Yeah, when you think they're a piece of s***, but still want to see them win.
that's drama baby
If you touch one second on this PTA film i will do a Luigi special on the CEO of Warner Brothers
I trust yall would help hide me if such an event were to happen

More, so interest, traffic, clicks booming related to the coverage of the numbers side of film, than the dunking on a movie on twitter stuff it feels borderline mainstream, but also I see your larger point more clearly now & damn
