I didn't get that from OUATIH personally but yeah both films don't shy away from the ignorant, taboo s*** back then that was more acceptable than in today's age...like Pitts quip about "don't cry in front of Mexicans" is hilarious bc of how random it is in the film but I don't think it's meant to be a "yeah he's right!" Moment...same with Leo's disdain for hippies it's funny but not necessarily supposes to imply he's on the right side of history

Yea ha I tend to be a lil harsh on Tarantino so take it with a grain of salt

The book version of OUATIH has even more questionable moments lol and I get that with QT for sure thankfully I think he's gotten the hint about not overdoing it with the N word in his screenwriting after Django and Hateful Eight (both films I love but definitely feel like he went a bit overboard in that regard)

Both examples in OUATIH are indeed meant to be either outlandish or outrageous in a funny way

went to see it for a second time and i can confidently say it was much better and was more fulfilling.

plot made a lot more sense this time than last time, connected more dots etc etc.

Yeah Tarantino goes overboard with the film history stuff when it would have been more interesting exploring the actual characters more and what happens to them prior/after the events of the film lol Cliff is a bit less likeable in the book too IMO

Just to balance it out so it's not all FD signifier-adjacent takes, here's a 5-min video arguing why Perfidia is excellently written as a character, and yeah, not everyone agrees in the comment sxn, but that's alright:

First act had me locked in from the get go. Wasn't expecting Teyana to be THAT good in this movie but she made the most of every scene she was in.
