was not bad but…wasn’t groundbreaking either…kinda disappointed

I think them marketing this as "the scariest movie of the decade" really did it a disservice. This was an incredible movie, but people went in expecting the wrong thing.

That’s marketing for you, any horror movie that gets a review saying that instantly slaps it on the front of posters or trailers, same thing happened to Talk To Me. Wish it didn’t work that way but that type of tagline really brings out audiences and proven to work.

Me personally I think there’s more than enough to come out of this very satisfied but even with my hype before the movie I never expected it to be “the scariest movie of the decade”. Just wanted it to be good in general and it really is

I do think time will be kind to this movie, similar to Hereditary. Once the smoke clears and hype levels die down there’s a lot to be enjoyed about this movie

Been about 10 minutes since I left the theater and I already feel it settling in. What a f***ing visceral watch. The beginning alone made my skin crawl, like I can imagine a kid seeing that and being scarred like how kids felt about Pennywise back in the day. I think putting aside how disturbing of a watch it is, it’s also an incredibly engaging and interesting crime thriller, definitely could see the Silence of the Lambs comparison and a splash of Mindhunter as far as the tone of that sect of the film. Maika is a very commanding lead, playing such a timid character and doing so much with her face and tone of voice. Cage… Jesus Christ. Anytime he was onscreen I couldn’t breathe. There’s such a great balance of over the top Cage but when he needs to go all in on terrozing the screen, he goes to 11. Oz’ direction does so much to help the tone feel consistent while also allowing the audience to relax when necessary. Not only that, but it’s so well shot too. So many parts of this movie I was just studying the shots in case I might miss anything and took in a lot of the great cinematography. It’s so great to come out of a movie with this much hype and feeling that level be met. Definitely will be one of my favorite movies of the year.. perhaps THE movie of the year the more it sinks in.

    9.5-10/10

I’m sorry but this s*** was gassed

Ok, after letting it sit for the night, it definitely got the job done. I live alone and I didn’t feel safe sleeping at night without saying multiple prayers. I didn’t even feel comfortable closing my eyes when I took a shower this morning. I’m sorry Oz Perkins, I wasn’t familiar with your game

There you go bro. Not all movies have to have chainsaws or exorcisms etc

Unnerving and disturbing is more scarier because it can actually be realistic

I give this a 9/10 . Left me with the same unsettling feeling I had after I watched Talk to me . The shot composition is immaculate n made me incredibly anxious bc of the uncertainty of what’s lurking in the corner of your eye .
I think ppl in the theater initially thought this was a comedy bc of nick cage. they started laughing when they first showed him but after like the first 15 minutes they shut tf up and were just mortified by his presence.
