This is insane there are no young stars coming up over the 2010 guys

That 2016 class was supposed to be next, but I guess they were just the last generational artists to exist in hip-hop. Everyone after them have fizzled out.

yea i guess we used to niggas coming out the gate on some legendary s***. atleast thats how it used to be

When Drake debuted we knew exactly what it was, when Ye debuted it was a moment

aint nobody coming out with bodies of work that stand the test of time like that

    standards are different now

also its only the 2010s cause it seems more attainable than the 90s

with less dystopian ass ppl running the country and better artists at the forefront it probably wouldnt feel nearly as bad as life does rn

  • when niggas used to debut it would shift the paradigm of music, this might be more of mono-culture issue than a creative one

For sure but they were lowkey molded in the background if we being honest

Development doesn’t exist anymore, it’s hit or flops

i kinda agree with this also, but when great albums do drop like JIDs the forever story s*** sells like 30k units. we not in an era where gkmc could come out and do what it did

Living in an era was social media was not a necessity or part of everyday life. Living in a time where the white house wasnt constantly in the news for some bullshit and we were attaining more freedoms not taking them away. Millenials did deal with patriot act s*** but passed bush and 9/11 everything was more optimistic. Even when the 08 crash hit that s*** aint really effect most of us as we were still in school

a world with no cell phones or social media is the first thing that comes to mind obviously

economic disparity was much more distinct 30-40 years ago.

really the biggest difference is the social atmosphere

another thing outside of politics and social media, although social media is a big reason is art nowadays feels bad on all front. Theatres are barely a thing anymore. Game development is trash, theres no real big progress and optimization is getting worse somehow. For every helldivers 2 or good game you got another s***ty cod game etc.

literally no art is peaking rn

the last mono-cultural moment in the foreseeable future is GTA6 other than that everything is fragmented culturally thanks to social media and streaming services
