I’m all for Ke Huy Quan winning but it’s starting to feel more like ppl are voting on ‘what will be the best story’ rather than ‘who was the best actor.‘

All this “it’s never over in Hollywood, this actor is long overdue’ makes it seem like they’re voting based on the wrong thing.

Ke Huy Quan winning is a great inspiring story and I’m sure everyone will be crying during his speech BUT he definitely isn’t the best actor in that category… not even 2nd or 3rd

Oscar voting should be based on who you think is objectively the best in said category. Not what will make the best sob story, not what actor/actress got screwed over in the past and now we gotta correct our wrongs, not let’s give it to the person with seniority

Banshees Should definitely win for best screenplay.

As much as I love Tár, reading that script felt like homework… it comes down to personal preference but I hate the way the Tar script looks, big ass paragraphs of text is a turn off (and YES for those who don’t know, format and presentation is something ppl judge when it comes to screenplays) on top of that Martin is just a clear better writer than Todd.

I think the “originality” is too overstated with EEAAO, I mean cool they had a scene with rocks, that’s original, but they used a played out idea that Marvel keeps shoving down our throats and then summed up everything with a super on the nose cliche Act 3. And this may be more directing than writing, but the clear “In the mood for love” references works against the “it’s sooo original” argument.
And if you’ve never seen ‘In the mood for love’ then you wouldn’t know that, But then again that article also stated he didn’t realize an all Asian cast could achieve such a thing
