i'm assuming the characters are supposed to be over stylized seems dumb to get offended over douchy male characters

Yeah like the male characters played over the top nice guys who actually aren’t nice. And in the end the two guys acted as if they didn’t mean to do what they did “it was her fault not mine. She made me do it!!!”

It has obvious elements of satire sprinkled in

@Elric no one’s talking about the fact Nomadland won Best Picture

    F*** that

Now I gotta think like, is it wrong to assume for this kind of thing? Like they should’ve kept the format as it was?

But thing is a lot of the movie wasn’t even the main character “seeking revenge on men”.....2 of the ppl on her hit list was females. So to me the film showcased how woman are scummy too

But for me it's not even just "men are bad, women aren't"

It's that from beginning to end I wasn't sure what to think of the lead. Was I supposed to admire her? Hate her? Pity her? I don't know. I watched interviews with the director and she seems to think the character is totally noble and has all the right ideas.

I feel like there's a really interesting story about trauma and loss in the movie that they never really get into after all of the gender politics. She seems very disturbed and broken and I wish there was more of that in the movie instead of reaching the ending and it's like oh! She won in the end! Yay!

The message I see is not only about support within a gender, but support for people who have experienced death before loneliness and hatred takes root in them.

Lemme ask this. What did she even do in the movie to make u confused by her character? She didn’t even do anything wild to make me think “nah this b**** crazy I hate her”

  • How was their no primary actor for black messiah And just two supporting ones Instead

Well like others have said...she completely f***ed with Alison Brie's character's head by making her think she was raped. That was really messed up of her.

And even though she failed, she did attempt to carve a name into someone's chest

While we have sympathy for vigilante justice, let's be clear that these are not common actions for people to carry out. She definitely wasn't OK mentally. And I wasn't sure if I was supposed to feel bad for her or cheer her on.

been hearing everywhere that Hopkins is incredible in The Father

Honestly love Chadwick, but his performance wasn’t really that special in MRBB. He was more deserving for Get on Up tbh.

Riz would’ve been my pick if not Hopkins though.

Yeah she definitely wasn’t mentally ok, I think that was the point to show trauma can f*** ppl up in different ways. Just wasn’t sure why you would question “should I hate her” unless the hate wasn’t literal lol

To me those characters Alison, the Dean and guy all deserved it. The guy literally raped her friend, having a name carved is light when compared
