they're not really experiments in the "experimental"/pushing the envelope sense, but for example i just dont enjoy the upbeat songs on Purple Rain all that much due to the instruments/arrangements or whatever, yet on other hand I'll like something such as Kiss or Raspberry Beret
hmmmmm
have you listened to 1999, Dirty Mind, or Controversy? they’re more stripped back than Purple Rain and definitely showcase Prince’s “one man band” side of things

In another universe Raspberry Beret replaces Take Me With U and the album is completely untouchable
love the guitar tone during the solo here, it's very reminiscent of the outro to U Got the Look

The first ever Tuareg language fictional film, based on the legendary rock-u-drama “Purple Rain,” Akounak or “Rain the Color Blue with a Little Red in it” explores the world of a musician trying to succeed in the raucous subculture of the Niger guitar scene. The protagonist, real life musician Mdou Moctar, must battle fierce competition from jealous musicians, overcome family conflicts, endure the trials of love, and overcome his biggest rival – himself. Carried by stunning musical performances from Mdou, the film is a window into modern day Tuareg guitar and an experiment in participatory ethnographic filmmaking.

Parade is the album where every outtake is better than the tracklist songs more or less. Complete misstep compared to his previous work
man what? lmao
Well they use extremely similar chord progressions, only 1 chord difference, both are string driven and the first version of Beret is from mid 82 so it was recorded before Take Me With You. Could easily in another world where Raspberry Beret is used and Take Me With You is left to Apollonia 6 or just not recorded

Man you wild for this lol.
We get one disc of stuff we’ve heard already and you guys are getting 40 disc box sets lol

Just is annoying that the Estate said we were getting a Diamonds & Pearls boxset last year only for it not to happen and then implied we were getting a Parade boxset and nothing said since
Just could've given us a reason for not releasing anything this year and going radio silent

What do Prince fans think of his estate overall? Bad?

Hit or Miss, great at putting together boxsets and including the right stuff with the outtakes and footage. EXTREMELY bad at giving the information about the songs on the boxsets though, complete lies lots of the time and even worse when we have leaks and bootlegs of demos and then they release and they've edited 2-3 different version to make a "new mix" and then they'll claim it is the original
The 1999 boxset is the only release that had no frankenstein'd or edited songs on there, SOTT had 2 I believe, originals is 90% remixed and the PR re-release had 1 edit on there

they've done Prince justice overall. besides Welcome 2 America, i've loved all the archival material and the remasters have been nothing but amazing. there's some questionable decisions like excluding certain tracks from a SDE, stupid remixes of vault tracks...but other than that i'm happy

Oh and releasing the same concert (Syracuse 1985) 3 times although the last release was justified as they upscaled everything

hopefully a 40th anniversary SDE of Purple Rain will correct Our Destiny/Roadhouse Garden and give the album a proper remaster

The absolute copium I've been hitting and saying for the last 3 years
"well we'll just get the unedited tracks like Glamorous Life on the PR SDE"

Yeah, it was recorded right after “How Come U Don’t Call Me Anymore?” Fun fact: The released version of “Raspberry Beret” is an edit.
