I don't think $450 isn't bad either but MK World for $90 is definitely crazy

A part of me says they're only doing it because they want that people are buying the bundle

Nah, the bundle is the way they trick people into doing it. A rando dad will get his kid a Switch 2 bundle bc "Mario Kart is only $50 more" only to be stuck potentially buying games for $80 down the road.

People will be more likely to buy games if they already have the system.

I mean they shouldn't be surprised when they - like cowards, may I add - didn't bring up the prices at all in their Direct lol

Exactly, thats true too and they will only change it when people wont buy the games

I don't see this happening. The Switch 2 will just be fine. I don't think it will fail because Mario Kart, 3D Mario (definitely coming holiday 2025 or early 2026) and Zelda are huge franchises now (even bigger than it was 10-15 years ago)

MK8D almost sold 70m units for the Switch. Nothing will change in the long run. They will never have a Wii U situation anymore because times changed

Bro, you live in Denmark don't you? The Nintendo Switch 2 is the equivalent of 680 USD here in Sweden, and some other fellas in the thread from Norway and Denmark said they got the same prices there. With this in mind, if Nintendo drops an OLED version, it's gonna be like 800 bucks for you and me.

Well it's between 3999-4249 DKK depending on where you do get it which is around $587 - $624... But yeah the OLED screen will probably increase the price to something close to $700 - $750 probably. So yeah I think I'll wait for a price drop before I do get a Nintendo Switch 2 or a Nintendo Switch 2 OLED

And the games been $80 - $90 (Well $80 since I don't buy any physical games) makes it even worse. But the price for the Pro controller isn't too bad since it's a Pro controller and not a regular one. But the Joy-Cons price is horrible as you gotta buy two of them which makes the price even more than a Pro controller which is a HUGE YIKES... So yeah I'll continue gaming on the PS5 Pro and wait for a price drop I guess before I do decide getting one.

They could potentially have a Wii U situation if people can't afford $700 consoles because they're going to be paying for the effects of tariffs literally everywhere else in their life.

i think i'll get a Switch 2 at the earliest once the new Xeno game comes out

was kinda planning on doing so even before the Direct and it didn't change my mind whatsoever lmao

still got literal hundreds of games to play on my switch and other consoles

also Mario Kart World isn't nearly as convincing as BOTW was when the Switch came out (i didn't own a wii u)
the tracks look very uneventful from what they've been showing in the Treehouse

    hundreds????

Prices are worse in Europe 90 euros for Mario kart translates to like almost $100 USD

Just the console without Mario kart is 469 euro = $515 usd, and with mk bundled is equivalent to $560 usd

I say stay in the US for now cus the console is even more expensive in some European countries and we have nothing to do with Trump's tariffs. Here in Sweden the Switch 2 is currently priced at the equivalent of 680 USD, and Mario Kart World is at 100. Bundle for 750. I am not selling another kidney.

You're in for a rude awakening. The steam deck OLED is $550 it's a smaller display, 800p, 90hz, no VRR.

Compare that to what a switch 2 oled would have to have, a bigger display, 1080p, 120hz, VRR, and oled? The price will be 600 at least

I wish I knew more, but it still is a crazy feat the retroid 5 is $200 with OLED

There's gotta be some reason for that right?

No, I'm saying that Nintendo's pricing of a game for $80 (when the system is already more than most were hoping for) is absurd.

A lot of people speculated that the $80 price tag and console prices were due to the tariffs, and this recent delay kinda proves it wasn't that - Nintendo was just being greedy. So now that prices have to increase the way they do, people are gonna be rightfully even more pissed.

The console price is totally fair. $450 makes sense if you look at the handheld PC market. The Switch 2 has more advanced tech than the others priced at $400. It was expected.

Mario Kart at $80 is wild, but I wouldn’t call that greed. Sony did the same thing at the start of the PS5 generation when they upped the ante to $70. It was heading there eventually with GTA anyway.

Charging $80 for Switch 2 versions of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Mario Party, and TOTK though… that’s greedy. There’s no defending that. I’m not even affected by it since I already own those games and the upgrade packs are $10. But I feel bad for new switch 2 owners that never played them. What an insane decision.

nah the $60 version of the game + the $20 dlc together in a bundle being $80 is how like 90% of AAA games launch on ps5, series x and pc, sometimes it launches with bundles at $90 or $100 if it’s like a season pass of multiple dlcs

Remember it’s only if you want the expansions, Kirby and jamboree will still be available for $60

That’s not as weird as Mario kart being $80

Also instead of buying the switch 2 version for $80, just find Kirby/Jamboree secondhand or used online or whatever, or a sale, then purchase the dlc. You’ll probably spend $40 instead of $80 and you don’t get the ugly red box as well lol

We've had GOTY/Complete editions of games, remasters and remakes of games for ages and yet we've not hit the $80 mark until now.

Sony, Square and Atlus did NOT sell TLOU2 Remastered, FF7 Remake Intergrade, or Persona 5 Royale at $80.

Hell Goty editions historically tend to be cheaper and not add all the dlc to the costs on top is wild.

Mario Kart World being 80 is wild but at least it’s a new game and is next gen. Kirby Forgotten Land is a 2022 game and they’re charging $80. That’s lunacy.

The 2nd hand market existing doesn't excuse Nintendo from being criticized for having absolute garbage pricing on old games that should’ve been discounted

You’re just not locked in breh, this has happened many many times. When Elden ring dropped its dlc, a version of the game with the dlc dropped for $80 or $90, or you could buy the dlc separately. Not to mention most games on ps5 and xsx beat you to the punch and just offer a $80 or $90 version that is the $60 or $70 game + $20 dlc packed in on launch.

In some markets you could even get mk8 deluxe with the expansion pass for $80 on a cartridge, but that never came to America
