I do realize that yes... But it shouldn't make the price over $500 - $550 though

Bro, you live in Denmark don't you? The Nintendo Switch 2 is the equivalent of 680 USD here in Sweden, and some other fellas in the thread from Norway and Denmark said they got the same prices there. With this in mind, if Nintendo drops an OLED version, it's gonna be like 800 bucks for you and me.

In light of the fact that everybody in every Nintendo-related comment section is yelling DROP THE PRICES it would be a freaking disaster if they did the complete opposite and INCREASED the prices. I can't even imagine how badly that would affect sales and the customers relations.

Nintendo’s statement is bad man. I genuinely expect a price increase on the console

I love Nintendo but if the base Switch 2 is increased to $500+ I’m not buying on launch

You shouldn't be buying it at launch for the current cost

i think i'll get a Switch 2 at the earliest once the new Xeno game comes out

was kinda planning on doing so even before the Direct and it didn't change my mind whatsoever lmao

still got literal hundreds of games to play on my switch and other consoles

also Mario Kart World isn't nearly as convincing as BOTW was when the Switch came out (i didn't own a wii u)
the tracks look very uneventful from what they've been showing in the Treehouse

I think the tracks are very eventful tbh

    They did it to themselves.

People were assuming it was a mix of greed and tariffs, but if those prices turned out to mainly be them being a******s, Nintendo had it coming

Yeah, unfortunately they did. I hope they manage to turn the situation around cus it's unfortunate to see. Many people called the Switch 2 Direct the best Direct of all time, a 10/10 for many, and the hardware was surprisingly up to date for Nintendo. Everything was fine until the pricing drama started.

I think people's hype just got the better of them. The Direct wasn't that unbelievable imo.

They only announced 3 new first party titles (excl. MP4). And with their backwards compatibility revolving around paid upgrades, that also wasn't a good sign. Same with the paid tech demo. Not even really about prices at that point.

The hardware price wasnt even bad, its better than most other handhelds even at higher prices.

I'm mainly referring to paid upgrades, the paid tech demo, and the fact that they're charging $80 for a f***ing Mario Kart game.

If the system's cost was the same and the games were cheaper/upgrades were free, people wouldn't be up in arms.

Oh thats agreeable then, thought you were mainly talking about the pricing related to the tariffs affected product

No, I'm saying that Nintendo's pricing of a game for $80 (when the system is already more than most were hoping for) is absurd.

A lot of people speculated that the $80 price tag and console prices were due to the tariffs, and this recent delay kinda proves it wasn't that - Nintendo was just being greedy. So now that prices have to increase the way they do, people are gonna be rightfully even more pissed.

Really dumb move especially since it's just mario kart, it sends a confusing message. Like now people think all games are 80 now, terrible PR nightmare.

Yeah, that clearly was baseless speculation.
And people should be pissed for the increased prices now, but at Trump, not Nintendo. Its not only them raising prices, everyone will follow, even outside of the gaming industry

People are right to be angry.

If Mario Kart is 80 and DK is 70, any game could be 80 (or even potentially higher) on Nintendo's whim. People should be thinking all the games could be $80 if one of them is.

Yeah exactly, insane fumble. Whoever oversaw the pricing internally is cooked. People are getting fired.

Idk if anyone's getting fired here. Nintendo's very public and corporate greed is always at the forefront of their business and it's been that way for a long time. They want to get away with it. They knew the backlash would be solid. I just think they didn't know it'd be THIS bad (for them and regular people).

Nintendo still wants to drain your wallet with no remorse. They're not even interested in seeming consumer friendly.

There just comes a point when regular people get fed up. And Nintendo testing people the way they did when regular people are already struggling seems like that point.

I don't think you understand Nintendo, they are having a meltdown internally right now. All the comments for the games being shown off are about the price. This is a fullscale clusterfuck of the highest caliber.

I really do not think they're melting down internally right now over people having the natural response to their bullshit

They probably are freaking out over the fact that they chose to be greedy right before the idiot felon President of the US tanked the global economy

I don't think $450 isn't bad either but MK World for $90 is definitely crazy

A part of me says they're only doing it because they want that people are buying the bundle

You're in for a rude awakening. The steam deck OLED is $550 it's a smaller display, 800p, 90hz, no VRR.

Compare that to what a switch 2 oled would have to have, a bigger display, 1080p, 120hz, VRR, and oled? The price will be 600 at least

Well... If it's over $550 then yeah I am good until it's on sale then. There's no way it's worth $600 or more lol. But we'll see what happens in the next 2-4 years though as its price might not be as worse as expected... And if it is so will I just wait for a price drop
