N64 has a ton of classics but that controller still leaves a sour taste in my mouth to this day.
Is the middle handle for your mouth?
no online ranking or tournaments in mario golf kinda disappoints me
i was gonna get it for the online but if there’s no true competitiveness to it outside of just playing against people idk if it’s worth the $60 for me
story mode for mario golf (game boy color) was dope tho. starting as a newb and building up your stats until you could win the mario championship and become the king of the clubhouse was fun.
I dont care so much about the "story" but I f*** with the career mode elements that are mixed together with it.
That was during a different time before online multiplayer became a thing, Nintendo had to make the story good. Most people today just want to compete online when it comes to sports games. If the gameplay and online community is good then the story mode doesn’t matter as much. That’s kinda rough for IGN to give a sports game a 6/10 for that reason.

Now this will make it a 6/10 game
The thing that annoys me the most with Nintendo is the lack of achievements.
A reviewer complained that in speed golf you have to run to get to the ball as if that's not the point of that game mode

yeah i think i read or heard somewhere that they generally don’t do achievements so there’s no “stress” involved with playing the game or whatever, but i don’t see a problem with them for people who want them. if someone doesn’t like achievements, they just don’t have to go for them
also in regards to this new mario golf the courses seem kind of bland. i was hoping for some wacky nintendo / mushroom kingdom style courses, apparently most of them are relatively normal
maybe in the DLC content they’ll add some better ones tho

I agree, Nintendo treats their base like children but I bet most of their base or die hard fans are adults.
The bland courses wouldn’t bother me as much, but I’m more of a golf enthusiast. I mainly want this game for motion controls. Golf is really the perfect sport for it, it makes the gameplay more intuitive and the slower nature of golf is perfect for pacing. Therefore can play awhile on motion controls without tiring myself out.
With that being said, Super Rush doesn’t look like a day 1 cop I was hoping for. I learned my lesson from Mario Tennis.
When people realize the metacritic score strikers got and the amount of content it had they'll be in for a rude awakening
In other news, im glad thps on switch is good, another example that 3rd party games can look quite good on switch if an effort is put, im sure they'll be rewarded

The only thing I wish is the announcement for Switch was made in the beginning when it came back on PS4. I already bought it but I always prefer to play games on Switch when it’s multi platform.

Yeah, unfortunately switch sometimes gets later releases. At least waiting is worth it for games like this

I understand the later release, I’m willing to wait if I knew it’s coming later.
I'm afraid I let the Mario Golf hype get to me early and pre-ordered it. Seeing reviews and the criticism for online especially has me concerned.

I suggest watching/reading nintendolife review, i think theirs was the best overall

808s got lots of 6s and 7s from critics
maybe this Nintendo’s 808s and heartbreak fam lmao nah I’m just playing, but possibly cop the physical so you can resell if it ends up not meeting your expectations. That’s what I’m doing with skyward sword
Nintendo Life said the music is weak, yeah that’s a sign they didn’t put their best effort into the game. Good Nintendo games almost always have a good soundtrack. Ill wait til this goes on sale in the future I’m good.
im still hyped for mario golf
looks like the perfect game for my switch lite when i want to take a break at work.
think imma eat my words n cop SSHD
I think we can get a good idea about the remaster when previews are up. Its clear they added some qol improvements but we dont know what exactly

i'm inching closer
you gotta know, just the controls / camera alone make me super interested
i never played the game for those reasons and i had a Wii but idk why i just full on missed Skyward Sword maybe it was cause i was in college and only played MW2 and then League of Legends for a while lmao since all i had moving out on my own at 19 was a s***ty school laptop

It also released like a week before skyrim lol so its understandable.
I played it when it came out and i can say it has one of the best osts, the best dungeons and boss fights and one of the best stories in the zelda series. It does have its glaring issues like a certain boss being repeated 3 times or some missions being quite tedious but overall the game was great to me. Hopefully the improvements make the game more tolerable than it was 10 years ago
