I use Serum, I been making 808s and bass on it for a while, its just that next step of making super saucy 808s that I need to get to. I lowkey have a lot of knowledge, but I dont apply it as efficiently as I should/could and kinda take it from there and learn, its a kind of fear of failure I guess... but im gonna make it a point to experiment with 808s tomorrow. Gonna mess with distortion, transient, chorus, EQ, compression, aaaall of it
if you got any tips let me know fam🙏
I use FL, how about you?
yeah most of my 808's just come from f***ing around on serum, its definitely fun sometimes to mess around with how many voices there are and the different effects on serum. a big thing i use is automation so maybe try experimenting with that on different parameters. i use ableton live 11
How do you tweak them fam? Like length, transient, s*** like that?
Yeah that and by adding lots of effects n s***

What do you use automation on? Good tip with the voices... but isnt the bass supposed to be mono? I hear that a lot, but then sometimes I hear wide bass that sound dope af
not sure

I don’t keep my bass in mono lol but ableton had this utility option called “bass mono” so any frequencies below a certain number will be played in mono, so for like phone speakers
this was like the second thing I made on ableton. ngl s*** kinda mid in retrospect. Also I laugh everytime I hear the random e40 sample I threw in there. laugh even harder this the only song on my page w the most likes or some s***
some of my favorite sample beats. Mixing prolly s*** was never good at that. Type of beats I prolly wouldn’t be able to make from scratch again. This was when I was just twisting knobs till s*** sounded ok.. and also a lot of cocaine.

I actually really love how I flipped this lianne sample
my favorite part is the outro when the hard digital beat I just made perfectly transitions back into the original sample in acoustic

Discovered/learned about 3/4 timing or whatever w this one. My First non 4/4. Also first time
Sampling gospel.i remember it took me
Forever to find all the vocal/gospel chops

one of the first beats I made

love how this one turned out but wish I cut some parts cause this s*** about 2-3 minutes too long imo lol

turned some s*** into something not as s***ty

I remember first time either seeing or hearing the em and Ed song I bursted our laughing as soon as em started rapping
Weak attempt at burial sound but still like how it came out
Love this edit cause it was the first Song I tried to seriously make.(kanye belber mashup being my first)
Learning how to use effects properly and knowing the rules helps w making music but I really feel like my beats were way more creative esp w ideas before I started learning all the rules and music theory s***

Well dont look at them as "rules", look at them as building blocks, or a platform to work from and be creative with... a tool
when they don't put the key OR bpm on the loop 🤦🏾♂️
