Ive been f***ing this up consistently my whole career
I usually put all sounds on one mixer channel then lower 3 db, then i lower the master by 3db, which comes out to -6 but its still way too loud
howling. we all learn someday
also i dont think u should be touching the fader on the master
I used to leave the limiter on my beats till one day i randomly dmed this artist my song an he cooked the f*** outta my mix
tbf i feel like a lot of ppl do this. esp when fl studio would autoamtically have that soft clipper on the master? or something. whatever ppl say "fl sounds better"
i think its fine when like sending out beats but some artists dont even be asking for the stems so u can send that s*** over so it can get properly mixed n master

@lightmagic keep the fader on the master at Unison (0db)
the master is your reference it needs to remain relatively open, so that you're monitoring correctly

are you looking for general stuff, or specific stuff?
General tbh
i was very lucky and learned most stuff hands on with people/mentors, so i don't have a youtube tutorial or anything to send you but there's a book by Bob Katz

that's really good

!https://youtu.be/TEjOdqZFvhY?si=bOgKptf2-704zwy7okay it's silly, but these orbs are legitimately a good way to think about it
honestly my best advice is to listen to older people and have an open mind. a lot of mixing has been figure out for decades, and you can take any of these ideas and modernize them to taste.
Where u learn that from

Never been in this thread... whattup
Currently sitting on 3 full-length projects from the past 6 years
Need some live instruments on ts though
wouldn't mind a pretty singer either
I was looking at either an SP404 or a that new mpc sampler. S*** looks amazing
I might cop a cheap keyboard from the pawn shop or sum lol the sampler is the main thing I want
I have one of these that I'm tryna get rid of (not the MK-II)
Would def give you a good price if interested
@survival_horror another thing i struggle with is making sure my mix has enough headrough. my s*** is always hitting red. so what ive been doin is just turning everything down till i have enough. and then after bussing s*** n using limiters and experimenting with a master chain. that s*** be sounding fat n loud.
is that how i should go about it per se
Headroom/mixing problems are often arrangement problems in disguise. Like if you have two instruments clashing in a bandwidth then you might only need one of them. That took me wayy too long to realise when i started
