    F5 is fine

    F4 yea too low

But i dont rly rely on the main key of the mode for 808s i usually am more all over the place

Is that an fl thing ? Typically octaves descend in numbers/pitch

Ah nice. But yeah soothe spectral side chaining will get you far. Just don’t use it as a replacement for regular dynamic sidechaining. A little of both is the sweet spot

yeah gonna take a while for me to experiment with everything. I think I primarily wanted to see how track space works for side chaining the instrumental to the vocals something light

when you’re doing an instrument against a bus that carries a lot of the same frequency range- in your case vocals and then synths/guitars or w/e

side chain soothe really lightly, then side change with a compressor really light with either 1 or 10 ms of look ahead (whatever sounds better)

Also you can A/B the chain so soothe after compressor if you want, and then just pick what sounds better to you

  • Anyone should use that piece of advice ^ I’ve heard great things happen

i watched this to get me started. i like the bus setup he got goin in since he mentioned it is somewhat similar to skrillex's and i member watching videos about skrillex's mixing techniques.

@survival_horror another thing i struggle with is making sure my mix has enough headrough. my s*** is always hitting red. so what ive been doin is just turning everything down till i have enough. and then after bussing s*** n using limiters and experimenting with a master chain. that s*** be sounding fat n loud.

is that how i should go about it per se

broad advice is - just make sure nothing is clipping in your mixing chain and then bring your volume down.

Your loudest thing in your mix (in this case I'm guessing vocals) should hover just at or under -6db

remember it's way easier to make things louder than quieter

i'm at work, and mr. skrillex clone isn't gonna teach me s*** !

  • Tell me how in the last 3 days i installed over 100000 new presets across like 12 synths

Ive been f***ing this up consistently my whole career

I usually put all sounds on one mixer channel then lower 3 db, then i lower the master by 3db, which comes out to -6 but its still way too loud
