This is why I hate self help books generally. They are often designed to make you feel good about yourself instead of actually better yourself.
Which is another symptom of the “everyone is a special snowflake that can’t possibly be actually damaged” society we’ve created

Nah I agree 100%. The more safe spaces we create the better but it’s unfair to set the expectation that everywhere and everyone has to be kind to you. That’s how we got comedy where dudes just tell funny stories about their kids.
