I’m not the most in touch with this stuff but the reason I referred to it as “stan Twitter speak” (not black Twitter) is because the pop stan Twitter space is where I know this stuff from basically. I know a lot of that is LGBTQ community but it’s also not strictly gays and I thought it was a lot of straight black women too.
So I wasn’t going to necessarily just call it “gay slang” since i didn’t know if if that’s really correct lol, I thought some of this stuff was more a part of the pop stan world which just happens to be very gay rather than just a part of LGBTQ community as a whole. The overlap and everything, but maybe I was wrong there?

i said “of course” and “enough” in reference to how we agree very little on music, period. like, of course you would say that. ive seen this episode before, we know how this goes. had nothing to do with you being at odds with the standard internet nerd opinion.

you're not wrong for not wanting to put a label on something you're not entirely sure about lol but yeah almost alllll that s*** is derived from gay men so that's what i would've been attempting to clear up. it's similar to how "aave" (i don't even like using that term) gets repurposed on social media. so when Bey says "I carry" on the new track, or "10 10 10s across the board, give me face" on Heated, the gays know that's specifically for THEM. no matter who's ran off with the lingo since.
