Damn, 3 times a week is awful. I'd bounce asap

I would have already resigned if it wasn't so much money

I was applying to more places over the weekend, it wouldn't be so bad going on site if I was like doing a lot of engineering work but the culture is anti change, the amount of friction to do anything is insane but then management is annoyed it's taking so long like maybe help me find a viable path to get anything done.. what they want me to fix I've done before other places much faster

I've worked with other 700+ user billion dollar companies before so I know it's just a thing here

Got a sec engineer interview soon. Would be huge to get this

    Start the incantations…

Ah yeah, I don't blame you then. You hearing back from the places you apply? Still, gotta suck going to an office and not have your team doing much

Onto the next round Both the hiring manager and internal recruiter really like my background. There's a couple spots open so I think I've got some pretty decent odds. With that being said, going to walk into traffic if I do not get it

I recently left a place like this and went back to startups. Was exhausting coming up with a solution, getting approval from N people on it, then having someone say no and restarting, then they ask “why hasn’t it been delivered yet?”.

    exactly… i get why you’d leave it’s frustrating

there are 25 different ways to solve all these issues but if it’s so complicated to fix this in a approved manner tell me how the hell to do it before i waste more time but no one wants to commit to anything yet they’re also annoyed progress isn’t being made

Yeah I went through exactly that. There were areas I could’ve stepped up and pushed it along for sure but I was also just so checked out of it like making an ounce of progress then getting sent back to 0 over and over and each time to make that ounce you had to get 4 approvals etc. the worst.

  • Now I just do whatever I want and I tell my PM what I’m going to do she just provides the overarching goal and idea. Much better.

yeah you can definitely lose urgency if you’re doing the same thing over and over with no clear reason

I get pretty restless though so I’ve been pushing them to do things it’s like pulling teeth but I’ve been sticking meetings on peoples calendar and pushing s*** constantly it’s so annoying tho things take 10 times as long to do basic tests that aren’t even production

it sucks ass worked at an msp for 14 years almost but stopped working full time a long time ago mostly cause of the timesheet bs, it's easy to work more than your billing

the only time i didn't mind it was the two times i basically was hired by a large company and was still working for the msp but id just only help 1 company 8 hours a day

you work at an msp 2-7 years max i barely knew anyone that stayed longer than 7 years, it gives you way more exposure and experience than most jobs is really the main benefit

in house IT a lot of times just is a bit of upkeep, helping users and changing a few things slowly

not many places I could have been apart of 10s of migrations

I work at one and luckily ended up working up to a management role within 3 years and it’s been pretty cool. The margins you have to meet to be profitable in everything you do is very tiresome, though

I’m wanting to leave eventually but only if it’s for a higher-up role in a large organization

You’ll get it through it fam just stay the course

just yesterday got news our client decided to 'move all operations to the US', but we (my 2 colleagues, not me included) would remain in the role of 'consultants' for them a.k.a they want us to finish documenting the processes for them

welp, there goes the easiest job I ever had, now I have to crunch trainings and get some certs in the virtualization domain, this s*** sucks but it's okay, good things should end for better things to start

No lying. Kinda pissed about it too because I don't mind what I do, the people are good, but am definitely underpaid by security standards. Getting a bit of a pay bump and annual bonus would be nice, but this new job pays like 50% more so...

They prob would've kept me if I got the promotion like a month ago since I don't think I would've been looking for a new job, but it is what it is lol. Obv still gotta get the new job, but I'm not super worried about it.

Got the offer but they are lowballing the f*** out of me

With a promotion and a bonus at my current job, the gap between what I was expecting to get offered closes a quite a bit so I think I’ll just stay where I’m at. I got a pretty decent thing going here now so I think it works out pretty well for me.
