I did running/walking on and off. ended with an 11'15 pace. Just the right amount of stress on my body to prompt growth without setting me back

Well if you down to read bro, some advice on the running. This guy I know who did long distance marathons told me he likes to do interval running. So he’ll run for 3 minutes, walk for 1 minute. And the goal is to increase your run time while decreasing your walk time.
An example he said using a 15 minute window with the above intervals ends being like 12 minutes of running and 3 minutes of walking. You can even stop yourself if you hit a mile, there’s a lot of variety with it.
He did this and then set aside a day for an actual timed/distance run and he said it made his pace and distance on his runs a lot better and those training days less taxing

yeah that's kind of what I ended up doing just intuitively without tracking the time. for now I wanna focus on getting out running most morning to create the habit and build a foundation, then i'll focus on the specifics of HR zones and whatnot
