It sounds like you need lower weight. Doing weight you can handle and control is what will ultimately get you stronger- even if it’s super low it’s okay.

you can try doing lower weight, high reps.
if you can hop on the injured leg without pain, that's usually a good sign that you can resume strength training (with caution)

Went down stairs this morning at a brisk pace and it hurt 
So I’m going to take it easy

Just takes time, practice, and research. I honestly was clueless after my workout partner moved out of town but with time i learned and got a great routine
been hitting the gym hard the past couple weeks getting back into the swing of things
Have been eating much better for about a month and now am actually motivated to get into the gym
Have been prioritizing cardio but hitting some weights as well. Haven't weighed myself yet cause I'm not trying to get distracted by it but got multiple compliments so feeling great

how much weight are you doing? Try a lower weight then up it by 5 pounds when you can comfortably complete a set
