Season 2 was the best season imo. I agree with you I wish Ba Sing Se got more time in general.

s3 had incredible highs of course but zuko + Azula's and co in the first quarter kind of dragged for me, so yeah I'd give best season to two as well

I feel like season 3 with them being undercover and in hiding for half of the season, it limit's the stories you can tell. Season 2 with them backpacking across the Earth Kingdom just felt perfect

I remember Korra being really up and down but man I'm fiending for more so I might start it

Wasn't planning on rewatching Korra but I'm fiending for more after my rewatch of ATLA

Just finished season 1 of Korra

I know Nick f***ed the show up in multiple ways but man the character, interpersonal and romantic writing is so so much weaker than ATLA

Bumi is my #1, imo he’s the strongest bender in the show. The swamp benders are f***ing hilarious too.

Can you elaborate on why you think that about Bumi?

I agree about Bumi being a great character though, one more reason that the liberation of Ba Sing Se should have had at least a full episode

Swamp benders are great too, their leader >>

Book 2 of Korra being about the Spirit Realm is a really cool concept but man it's off to a bad start

Her pops does all this s*** to f*** up the relationship with spirits, Korra's persistently struggled with her spiritual side...stumble around this woods and enter the avatar state and boom the gate's open

The writing regarding the spiritual aspects of the show was way way better in ATLA

    Hope it gets better

I think what ATLA had going for it regarding the spirit world was that it still had a sense of mystery

Korra lost sense of that mystery

There's so much to explore within the Spirit Realm that I feel like that you coming away feeling like that reflects more so on the poor writing

Yeah I'm almost done with the civil war episodes and everything feels so forced and half baked

Explaining the origins of things in fictional universes always deflates the air of them.

They go from mythos to fact and are always weaker for it, it basically crumples worldbuilding.
