    When he goes all into the trap s***/newer bounce of the industry it’s decent but when he tries to do the “Pharrell version” of trap you get weird ass beats like Lemon or what’s in OP

    no. They just need to leave the 808s and two bar loops alone and stop trying to fit with the times. The 2000s aesthetic is back in full swing and the world needs their true sound back more than ever... Pharrell is just always trying to be on some avant garde "must never repeat what I already did in the past" s***. Their entire sound is predicated on 7th and 9th chords and the bass was never ever the prominent instrument in their production until now. Their sound literally cannot work in this modern era production structure. Yet they keep trying. And failing.

    Honestly the whole rap culture just need to leave the 808s to the South, and start exploring

    Was watching this pod and he seems too obsessed with that concept without appreciating what the hallmarks of “Pharrell” already are

    Spot on with that Neptunes sound being en vogue rn bc of the 2000’s nostalgia but for some reason they wanna try and fit in with what’s going on now

    Pharrell beats getting very bland and repetitive. It has been a theme for awhile with him. When it hits, it hits. But he is starting to have more misses than not at this point.
