What are yalls thoughts on its potential to win Best Picture at the Oscars?

I bought $17 of stock on it when it was at 4% last week on Kalshi, and I’m up like $70 rn. But I’m thinking I should cash out soon because I don’t think Nathan will play the political game that the Academy likes people to play to win

Would be historic for it to even be nominated. Despite the universal praise from every group of viewers, I think it's still a real long shot to actually win

There have been little cracks in everything Nathan has done since NFY that show him reckoning with the possibility that his whole schtick is based on using and tricking people content. This was especially evident in the child actor fatherhood simulation arc of The Rehearsal, which ends on the ambiguous note of Nathan having possibly altered a young boys perception of reality, for the sake of an HBO show and his own insecurities about fatherhood. Elizabeth then must have picked up on this about Nathan because he was clearly particularly struck by the "youd be a good father" comment she made. The Curse was kind of about this reckoning too. EH plays a game very similar to the one NF plays on NFY, which is why i think NF is so fascinated with her, and also why (in addition to being a genuinely curious artist without an agenda), he insists on hearing her out -- he kinda sees himself in her.

I’d highly recommend watching asap if you’re curious about this

    I wish it was longer

  • I think deep down, Nathan is disturbed by how far he was able to string people on these ridiculous plots, and that all it took was a camera crew and his high tolerance for discomfort mixed with confidence. By playing up his own personality, he was able to take people really far and put them in uncomfortable situations that were massively profitable for him. He knows this might be kind of wrong. Nathan only did this for a comedy show. Nathan recognizes that Theranos represents what he, or anyone with the ability to work people, could do. Theranos is what he could have done had he not put this effort into comedy. Thats why he identifies with, albeit deep down, with Elizabeth Holmes

There were so many bits in the movie that seemed significant to me that I forgot them all but thank you for bringing up that part about Holmes saying he’d be a great father — HUGELY significant

Because it indicates that she was likely being dishonest and manipulative when she told him that she had never really seen his work before
