Ok but wtf does billboard know streaming f***ed up a lot of s***
You think its bigger than those two songs?
Bro ive lived thru so many songs that were way bigger too. Oops i did it again (i was young af tho) and bad romance felt bigger too.
its not streaming its radio
no it was the longest running song on hot 100 they dont mean the same thing.
its literallty number 1 on the billboard goat list lmao
thats not what i’m saying tho
i’m saying the reach is that preferring his older work to his newer is because of adolescence attachment
i literally heard BBTM and Starboy in full before i did trilogy
This doesn’t just apply to Abel though. This is a common thing for every popular artist. “X artist’s old stuff is better”
Anywho NAHWC > H&V
HNVM > Take Care

Or maybe music is just subjective
CLB streamed more. Mr Morale was the most streamed album that dropped in 2022. They didnt include CLB
you sure? cuz CLB rn is at 3.4B so that means it must have dont at least 2B streams in 2021
HNVM > Take Care
Forbidden knowledge itt
Recency bias is also well documented
This. Artists have to battle against fans having nostalgia about their past work and recency bias for their latest work. The truth is somewhere in-between that.
I don't think it matters which work of an artist you prefer since it's still work by the same artist.
Abel is still making good music (it's just more commercialized now). He has fans who fell in love with the non-Pop version of his sound and who think his songwriting/musicianship was better back then and then he has fans who think the opposite. No one is wrong and no one is right.

we talking about global bruh
its literallty number 1 on the billboard goat list lmao
again that doesn't mean its the biggest song of all time 💀
It is a harsh statement but there’s truth to it. As a songwriter, he’s so much better. The music is better produced and the themes are stronger. Trilogy is still fire but as an artist, Abel is so much better.
An artist can improve by all those technical metrics but whether or not the work actually exceeds their early lightning in a bottle type breakthroughs is pretty subjective and up to taste
I’m sure Abel’s vocal performances have improved a lot but Max Martin beats might be technically better than HOB production, better microphones in use, more budget and more people to perfect it
But surely you can see how for some people that’s not going to be better than the raw, unpolished early stuff where an artist is first establishing who they are. There’s often a magic there. Especially in a case like this where the sounds are so radically different. I’m indifferent on Abel as a whole but there’s a definite unique vibe of the early production, and sometimes just getting better at your craft isn’t going to mean your music is more interesting.
As far as Abel I feel like it’s up to taste. I can see why people would prefer his old or new stuff, neither opinion is invalid or crazy
we talking about global bruh
you mean Spotify global? cause thats what that was
CLB > Take Care, yes
no it was the longest running song on hot 100 they dont mean the same thing.
It lost that record to Heat Waves. Blinding Lights was around 80 weeks and Heat Waves was around 90? HW is the biggest Billboard song now
again that doesn't mean its the biggest song of all time 💀
ok bruh. i dont have the energy to argue about stupid posts like this
What the f*** is heat waves
Thread insufferable at this point
Seemed like it was insufferable on arrival
