I finally understand the whole series, and all I had to do was play all the games
lmao but it’s really that simple
mgs1 holds up mostly really well, although I’d recommend playing on easy because some of the bosses low-key piss me off
mgs2 holds up incredibly well, make sure to use the updated visuals in the settings too, in the menu before you actually boot the game itself
I kept dying at that rooftop fight with that helicopter in mgs1 lol

Did u end up finishing it?

Oh weird that fight was easy for me. It was the cyborg ninja that I really struggled with
Nah, that's where my run ended
Ify
I dropped delta for months because The End boss fight. Picked up today and found my love for the game back
Mgs4 ending is a perfect end to the saga, i cried like i havent in a while. I cant believe people want more from this saga that i imagine PW and the two fives havent already given, especially without kojima's involvement.
The game makes a perfect case for letting Snake and metal gear solid rest, as they deserve.
What a f***ing game of opposites, extreme opposites even. This man had no intention of making this game, actively hating the idea of doing it, yet he still made a very flawed masterpiece that despite the fanservice made every single difficult and brave decision in the book to deliver a piece of work that i think is his most complex right alongside sons of liberty.
My biggest gripe about the game is how comparatively little you get to play with its stealth mechanics which are nothing short of stellar and make most games today in any genre look painfully outdated. Glad that there exist people in this industry that utilize the increase in horsepower for more than just graphical fidelity. Kojima is a very interesting case study of this, because playing his games consecutively really gives you a better idea of generational leaps more than any graphical comparisons between generations you find on the internet could ever hope to do.
Im gonna think about guns of the patriots for a very long time, and admittedly a lot of that time will be me wondering what the f*** was the point of the B&B when he did the same thing better with the same thing he was trying to reference in the first place lmao
Its crazy how many comparisons i can make of kojima and his relationship with the metal gear saga to hideaki anno and his own relationship with evangelion. As such, i think a complete understanding and appreciation of this saga requires an awareness of its meta aspects and the real history of this saga. Old Snake as a character hits even harder than it does when you fully realize the meta implications

are you playing in any particular order?
are you playing in any particular order?
2 > 4 > 3 > 1 > 5 > Peacewalker
2 > 4 > 3 > 1 > 5 > Peacewalker
absolutely insane order but glad you're enjoying :)
2 > 4 > 3 > 1 > 5 > Peacewalker
That's a crazy playlist order. Near nonsensical lol. But as long as they all get played
are you playing in any particular order?
Delta was my first MGS
I tried 2 for a few hours and Jesus f***inh Christ I couldn’t do it
I’m just gonna watch some YouTube vids on 1 and 2 and dive into either PW or 4 at this point idc if it’s blasphemy
Have you played MGS1?
Nah. I started 2 but the controls were so atrocious I dropped it. I felt like I was playing video games for the first time in my life so likely won’t do 1 either tbh

1 feels much much better than 2 which was an absolute nightmare of a playthrough for me

i mean, you should absolutely not play MGS2 before MGS1. And if you play MGS1, MGS2 will be easier to play

Just seems way too old idk. Don’t think I’d have fun. I tried with two but like you said it’s a nightmare and that’s not how I wanna spend my free time

bruh I can’t
Idk how anyone can fully appreciate this entire series if they havent played metal gear 1 and 2 for msx2. They're so integral to the overarching narrative and themes, especially someone's monologue in metal gear 2. I urge anyone itt who hasnt to play them, they're good games too, mg2 in particular. Precursor to mgs1 in so many aspects. Most of what you thought was revolutionary on ps1 was first introduced by mg2

I started playing video games in the 360/ps3 era. It’s a big gap to play these games and find enjoyment
It’s unfortunate tbh but like it’s not fun playing these ps2 and before games
