I started playing video games in the 360/ps3 era. It’s a big gap to play these games and find enjoyment
It’s unfortunate tbh but like it’s not fun playing these ps2 and before games
Its actually very fun, if not the most fun, to play these old games, because they could only rely on fun to engage the player instead of story and graphics

I mean I tried and it just didn’t hit. I will say I’ll give the master collection vol1 another shot after mgs4 and put in more effort to learn the controls.
Did MG1&2 earlier this week and now going through MGS
Im as s*** at stealth as the first time i played these but theyre so fun

No shame in following a guide. It can get confusing if you’re not used to older games

Prob will. Kinda just want to experience them for the story mostly

Worth it honestly theyre pretty fun and short and its cool seeing the foundation being laid
Mg2 pretty much plays like MGS just in 2d
crazy how much MG2 and MGS1 hold up
MGS can get a bit clunky i think tbh but overrall yeah its still a fantastic game

Playing mgs for the first time almost 30 years later after mg2 really grounded my perception of the game compared to everyone else. Its great still, but a lot of it doesnt play as revolutionary as it may have been when it released. I find mg2, mgs2 and mgs3 more robust and groundbreaking personally.
Also its so boss/setpiece focused, the stealth sections are few and concentrated at the beginning.

I agree with all your points honestly it kinda surprised me replaying this one because i remembered it being much longer with a lot more rooms to sneak in and uuh yeah its barely ten rooms where you actually have to do stealth in , game basically goes all in on the action in the last third
Its still cool but playing MG2 before it does put into perspective how much MGS relies on what that game introduced without necesseraly adding much on top (well besides the obvious shift in dimension and all that )
Boss fights are a bit hit or miss too sometimes they feel designed in a way that just doesn't really work within the games set rules and not in a good way
2 hours into MGS and it’s pretty fun. Definitely using a guide though. I never understood how people way back then were able to just “know” all the mechanics and tools needed for any given mission. The game itself is so impressive for how old it is. Looking forward to finishing it
Idk what happened to kojima but the more mgs titles i play the worse the bosses get. These tank/chopper bosses in peace walker are a slog, unfun, repetitive and tedious. There's nothing good about them idk how he even thought of having multiple of these be mandatory. Im sure they work fine enough in multiplayer but im playing solo rn which the game allows and these are clearly not meant for a single player. Just baffling design im surprised he could've thought of such bs
Does mgs1 hold up on ps5?

Yeah I ran multiplayer every boss fight and it was super easy but ok the flip side it ducked solo

Yeah just takes 10-15 minutes to get controls down

im playing through the series for the first time and im on mgs3 now but i kinda feel like the bosses are the worst part of these games
i appreciate the ones mgs2 being a bit creative but im not really having a good time with em lmao

Yeah I’m not good at video games so I always have to look up the recipe to beat them. Kinda lame but I like the games for the story mostly and casual gameplay
Ima trust u and give it a real shot and play them
Dont play Metal Gear games until you've played the Solid ones. I still think MGS1 has held up and is amazing.
Metal Gear 2 is not the same game as Metal Gear Solid 2 haha
Yeah just takes 10-15 minutes to get controls down
glad you're getting the hang of it!! No issue using a guide, but hopefully you won't have to use it that much!
trust me, if you get the hang of MGS1 controls, you will be able to tackle MGS2 very easily and then it's all uphill from there. MGS2 controls feel great (at least to me) right after coming off MGS1 because you really see just how much they cranked up your options and control.
the og Metal Gears are pretty good for 8-bit games but I think you'll be able to tackle MG2 more easily if you know the Solid controls/formula

Yeah I think my initial mgs2 attempt I didn’t give it enough time
Should be better now playing mgs1.
That being said, I’m playing on easy and this s*** is giving me a challenge so I’ll be doing the same for MGS2 lol
