My problem is having this feature is basically admitting that it’s filler garbage, so why put it in anyways? Sorta like how Crimson Desert lets you fast forward through the cutscenes because it knows the story is bullshit

They're well aware of the backlash after 1 and they added the MJ sections late into the development of Spiderman 2 while they were cutting hella content and storylines to meet deadlines. Apparently because they really want everyone in the Spider team to be playable in their games, so expect Ganke and Rio missions in Spiderman 3

They probably think it adds some length to the games and they don't want players to get bored of the swinging/stealth/combat gameplay loop as Spiderman too. But it is just filler that their games would probably be better off without
