Homecoming & Far From Home were high stakes?
Homecoming he was fighting his prom dates dad. Vulture about as low stakes as a villain you can get too
One of my main criticisms with FFH was how low stakes it ultimately is after we learn about the twist. He essentially is fighting tiny drones controlled by a non-powered disgruntled employee
Not that I’m opposed to a street level story but I’m starting to already feel like it’s been overdone with how many people keep talking about it lol
I was talking about FFH, NWH and the Spider-Verse films. I think Homecoming is wonderfully low stakes.
FFH is a really cool Mysterio story but Peter’s story imo is weighed down by the aftermath of Endgame and the pressure he felt about being Tony’s “heir.” High stakes may be a stretch i’ll admit but as much as I hate the Iron Man Jr reductionist take, FFH is the main one that suffers from this imo. I always believed that if Peter’s conflict was a bit different, maybe based on the whiplash of being thrown into the Thanos situation and basically dying in the process, the film would feel more personal and Peter/Spidey centric.

I didn’t like FFH so I’m with you on that. Homecoming really the only great MCU Spider-Man movie imo
NWH was cool for what it is but bringing back old Spideys wasn’t all that exciting to me. I was excited for MCU Spidey when he was introduced in Civil War and outside of the callbacks and cameos NWH story suffers. Best part of it is what the ending implies for the future

Agreed all around pretty much. I think those final No Way Home scenes are beautiful and really wish that move didnt lose the plot. Tom gets in his bag when they let him.
About the multiverse stuff i think the villains were the bigger issue for me. The Spideys were definitely fanservice but they at least added something to main Peter’s arc and had a lot of meaningful moments with each other. Lizard, Sandman and Electro had no business being in this film bruh, lmao.
That screentime could’ve been given to Peter and MJ or a MCU Spidey villain. So many fun ideas for a Mysterio comeback wasted
I dont think wanting a cinematic Spider-Man that exists in a world with and has relationships with other heroes was an unreasonable request
Nobody said anything about cameos and team ups in every film
I had the same complaints about Spiderman being too tied to iron Man when homecoming came out

Let it be the culmination of a Devils Reign adaption please

Jonathan Hickman you did it again

If post Secret Wars they want to keep Tom Holland, reboot the character and take this approach

Is it connected to the Miles Morales story? Wasn't he the Spider-man in the ultimate universe
Is it connected to the Miles Morales story? Wasn't he the Spider-man in the ultimate universe
So this is a new Ultimate Universe (6160). The original Ultimate Universe (1610) was destroyed in 2015 with Secret Wars. Miles (plus his family) and The Maker were the only people to survive the destruction and were carried over into the main Marvel Comics Universe (616).
With Ultimate Invasion, The Maker (an evil Reed Richards) found a new universe where some people haven’t gotten their superpowers yet. So he goes in there and stops people from achieving their destiny as heroes. This includes capturing the Spider that was supposed to bite Peter as a teenager. Fast forward through that story, The Maker is stopped and Tony Stark (a younger version) sets out to set everyone in that universe back on the right path. This includes Peter Parker where we meet him as a 35 year old employee of the Daily Bugle.
There’s some Spidey specific surprises I don’t want to spoil here but him not becoming Spider-Man when he was 15 has changed a lot of aspects in his life. This includes having a successful marriage with MJ and having kids. Throughout the issue it’s established that Peter has always felt that something was missing from his life. He was a man who already knows how to be responsible. So with Tony eventually giving Peter the Spider, he chooses to have the power and uses it for good. Peter doesn’t become Spider-Man until the end of this issue.

I remember when being woke was third eye open Nation of Islam chakra type niggas, now white people made “wokeness” anything that involves inclusivity of women or people of color
mfs are insane
