It definitely looked real for the most part idk what people are talking about. Just a few scenes where it was obviously cgi.
Yeah, can someone point me to a CGI baby that's been done better? A human infant seems like a ridiculously difficult thing to get 100% perfect.
also, this is low-key better than superman lol.
at least the main characters are adapted better + visually superman stinks
You see it. The visuals were my biggest problem with Superman, it’s just not a good looking movie. The writing and characters were great though
f***, i went in a little bit drunk and fell asleep in the 2nd half. Movie felt so muted and dull. Lacked a lot of life and charisma compared to Superman
Second viewing. Galactus scenes were great in 1.43:1. Still feel very weird about how they wrote Reed.
I mean led by any one character and their feelings / characterization is the prism of the plot. I’m not saying there’s fat bc there isn’t. It just lacks a central force besides the ensemble as family. The chemistry didn’t work enough for me to hang on to that. Maybe the ensemble would work in tv but I think it takes for granted an investment in the characters.
I really think Sue is the closest to a protagonist / emotional center and I wish it hewed more tightly on her pov
"It just lacks a central force besides the ensemble as family" ???
There were some things that I actually loved in this movie, but overall this was weak as hell
our hesitations ended up being true for us lmao

felt the same
Random but I cant stand age of Ultron. Ugly ass boring ass movie
underrated lowkey but understandable
cant wait to see Ultron back tho

Got thousands of people posting the same tired ass unfunny s*** everywhere . It’s so easy to control online discourse if the seeds are planted in the right places cause this is genuinely some legit Facebook level engagement bait

What does the following sentence say? It’s hard not to think about incredibles in context but yea those movies have a pov character that shepherds into the family context and says something about family. I don’t think this says anything.

You can say it doesn’t work for you but I have to disagree that it says nothing. There’s a clear message about the sacrifices a parent would make for their child threaded through the central characters story which is also added on to with Silver Surfer’s backstory
The biggest tonal comp to this in the MCU imo is First Avenger. Similar earnest vibes coupled with the period piece settling

Fair enough point and I take it I guess it feels a bit like a product of multiple writers.. I’ve said Sue should be the main character bc that’s the most cohesive plot point. A movie about how a baby coming into the world heralding a galactic shift in a family unit is the thing but I don’t feel Grimm and Johnny’s story reflect that well enough. There are ways they could but I don’t think the film gets there. Reed is mostly just nervous, which is understandable but not dramatically interesting. The character arcs are pretty limp. All this doesn’t matter too much bc I just wasn’t that entertained and if I was I wouldn’t try to hard to wring meaning out of this

All fair criticisms. It’s a movie that would’ve worked better as a sequel when you’re already familiar with who these characters are but I think maybe it works better for people who are already big fans of the IP. The emotional anchor is what kept me engaged especially with the two Reed and Sue disputes but movies are subjective

Tbh I think that’s the danger of skipping origin stories because I had similar issues with Superman, a character I don’t know much outside of his movie adaptations and reading All Star Superman for a class
I felt it relied too heavily on people being familiar with the IP. That plus some other issues I had but I want to rewatch because maybe I’ll like it more on a second viewing

I like the in media res approach but yea it is very reliant on shorthand to lock in. I guess it’s just picking up an issue and vibing. I think Thing and Paul Walter Hauser were highlights. I liked galactus and SS too. Maybe I need to peep this again in a bit also and it’ll click
thought this was a good watch
i dont really have any reference of the fantastic 4 besides watching the 05 movie as a kid but i thought everyone did a good job in their roles. my fear was despite the movie saying the group was also very intelligent that it would only show reed richards doing smart s*** but everyone else was pretty competent (i.e: johnny storm figuring out silver surfer's language)
also thought it was kinda bold for a majority of this movie there isnt really much action going on till the last half lol. they really honed in on the family aspect of the group and using their intelligence to come together and figure out how to solve whatever issue came at them, i really liked that about the movie.
think my main problem is that they probably could've saved galactus for another movie ngl. for someone thats supposed to be a planet destroyer, i didnt really get that impact in the movie.
over all though for the first marvel ive seen since endgame this was a good entree imo
credits spoiler despite knowing doomsday is a thing i still was thrown off seeing doom at the end
Even though i was skeptical at first from the trailers, promo, etc. Movie ended up being great and easily the best fantastic 4 movie ever. Also one of the best mcu film visually. It didnt quite break the mcu act 3 curse tho but still good overall
I was kinda expecting that they lose against Galactus and had to leave their Earth.
kinda disappointed it didnt happen. That aside, it also felt like something was missing in this film

why would you want them to flee and abandon the people of their world, that's not very hero-like
