I know, but the arguing is fruitless. Whether Ten Hag deserves to be here or not is a conversation that can’t even realistically happen until January, but more than likely, at the end of the season.

When the contract extension reports came out, it was also reported that the decision to stick by him is mostly a financial one. It’s the less expensive alternative to sacking him, giving him a payout, and then hiring a new manager… and given the money problems at the club, that seems likely.

To me it isn’t about what the board decide.
They can keep him or sack him if they want to.

It’s about trying to remain realistic and understand football from a deeper level than just results on a scoresheet and wanting your club to be number 1 against all odds

Zidane would never come here but I think he’s the only candidate who could possibly whip this current lot into shape and the only one able to bypass or go over a lot of the other problems. Imo culture of the club has cultivated this idea in some players that they’re bigger than the manager, therefore more important. Even someone like Ancelotti with a storied career would struggle against that.

Most would have grown up idolizing/respecting Zidane for what he did as a player and wouldn’t want to disappoint… plus… he’s Zidane. Guy is intimidating as s***.

Needs to get everyone back bought in, and needs to make a concerted effort towards the footballing principles he executed with Ajax.

And the club needs to sort itself out, too much instability and question marks. Ratcliffe needs to be wrapped up, Paul Mitchell etc. asap.

Them not showing it on the pitch and their lack of effort is not on Ten Hag's "discipline". These are the same players that threw Van Gaal, Mourinho, Ole and Rangnick under the bus. They don't care about discipline and putting in effort when things go wrong.
