I guess I misread. I was looking at it more from names drawing big budgets than merely known names. The Batman has established names, but on incredible salary bargains compared to previous franchises in 2010s. They were working with restraints

Jared Leto was in SS for 7 min and got paid more than double of Pattinson who was in cowl for over 2 hours of screen time. Not to mention tens of millions thrown at Affleck and Smith. A lot had changed since DCEU days.

Also Pattinson doesn’t have an Oscar nom (yet)

I just checked and you’re right that’s crazy I could’ve sworn Pattinson got a nomination for Lighthouse. But neither he or Dafoe did

But yeah Batman is usually the franchise that’s able to attract names. Wasn’t there a report that even ScarJo took a pay cut to star in part 2? I said it in that thread that Batman kinda eclipsed being looked at as superhero movie

DCU is starting over and is being considerate of budget after financial failures of DCEU. With success, big names will come

Also a lot of the time, even when it’s an unknown lead, the rest of the cast is filled with TV stars and veteran actors to draw in some audience

No one said A lister, tweet said unknown. Pattinson was most definitely still a big name at the time as he was just nominated for an Oscar in 2019. Wright, Farrell, Dano, Kravitz. They were all known names. Twilight was a bigger franchise than those Fantastic 4 movies Chris Evans starred in before joining the MCU

How often does an A lister even join a comic book movie at the peak of their careers? Off the top of my head, The Rock and Margot Robbie?

No need to split hairs. I’m not dismissing DCU, I like what they’re building. I just dislike those new DCU Twitter accounts acting like this is all uncharted territory and constantly switching their opinions to shill. As if they weren’t fan casting big names for months themselves

Clooney as Batman and see how that worked out

    That’s true

Much of Hollywood didn’t understand comic books in the 2000s. Cause you also had Nicholas Cage Ghost Rider, Jennifer Garner Electra, Ben Affleck Daredevil, Halle Berry Catwoman

All were close to a listers at the time I think? I was too young to remember

James is known to quickly recast if the vibe isn't working or the actor is hard to work with so this should be interesting

Hes never recast a main character like this though I think that would be crazy

I think they’d have to make it work…if anything they can just kill him off
