what is y'alls opinions on Awaken My Love then
another album where a hip-hop artist moved away from rapping by dropping a album heavily inspired by previous music
and also led to that artist getting increased mainstream atttention

AML is great. A little overrated but fun listen.
I think Gambino wasn’t talking s*** about hip hop after AML and that makes the difference

There’s a few tracks that hold it back from being something truly special, but the highs are awesome
It’s a nice project

It’s a better album. And I wouldn’t say it’s the same as Yachty album.
Donald is clearly a long time fan of that 70s psychedelic funk sound and had a hand in the production and instrumentation of the album. 10x better vocalist than Yachty as well.
Yachty listened to Pink Floyd for the first time like in the past year and used his connections to have his industry friends make him a cover album

I think you are making a lot of assumptions based on your previous perceptions of both artists

How do u know that Yachty didn’t have a hand in the production?
Lil Yachty makes a 'cover' album: He just got other people to make it and slapped his name on it
Donald makes a 'cover' album: He clearly was hands on with the production and instrumentation
How do u know that Yachty didn’t have a hand in the production?
What instruments does he play?
if he's the one going after rap being in a bad place then why not make the change he wants to see himself? he's got the resources
but he doesn't want to admit he doesn't have the talent.
I think you are making a lot of assumptions based on your previous perceptions of both artists
I’m going by things that Yachty has said. As well as Donald and his co producer Ludwig.
Donald did the drums on redbone.
Obviously idk 100% but I’d bet money that the extent of Yachtys “production” on let’s start here was some Travis Scott “make it dark” s***

again these are just assumptions
Sgt Pepper or Revolver is a great start
The Wall or Dark Side is also a a great start, if you were ever interested..
Preciate the recs, but it's too hard for me to connect with white music
Furthest I could get into Rock is Kid Cudi

No they aren’t. Only the last point is an assumption.

even instrumental s***?
What instruments does he play?
I changed my post to just talk about production. He’s an editor. He probably came up with Melodies. He probably told people what to do. Maybe he’s f***in around choppin things up in the DAW, we don’t really know. Do you know what a producer does? They may not play an instrument, but in another sense, they play every instrument. They’re the composer. They play the band. He’s been very adamant that this is his vision.
even instrumental s***?
It's cool but I don't pay much attention to instrumentals unless I'm stretching out doing yoga
Or about to spaz for 6 minutes straight like Lupe talking about sasquatch over no drums
Edit: but this my s***

Just looked through the track listing it says Yachty had prod credits on two of the songs.
And just to be clear I’m not hating on Boat. I’m a day one fan of his but this album wasn’t really all that in my opinion.

That’s fair lol no worries at all

Oh ok, I didn’t even know he only had production credits on two songs lol
My bad, good to know
The man in your avy would say the same s***
No, he would seek to understand why music has been commodified towards violence, lust and consumerism, not getting off slick Uncle Tom comments like yours
I think it’s considered the most normie. The prog heads like Meddle/Animals.
Nah bruh, most Pink Floyd fans do not like that album lmao
