None of the characters were likable whatsoever (one of the main things that’s required for an anime to be enjoyable imo) and the story got increasingly convoluted as it went. Like wtf was that bullshit ending? I’m just confused why this was in the top 250 movies of all time

not even gonna go into whether I think Akira is good or bad but

Well in that case, you can get yours up too. Likability is subjective and can be interpreted differently. For me, it means that a character is interesting or portrayed well onto the screen. You and the other dude who commented above automatically assumed that I meant “good” or “bad”

Me and other dude automatically assumed that you meant "likable", which is a word. You're mixing up concepts here. You're right that whether someone is. likable is subjective and up to your interpretation. But that subjectivity applies to your feelings of someones likability not to your feelings of the word likable. Gonna be some time before even descriptivists are good with using likable to mean "well potrayed"

reflecting on the score I think I’ve rated it too high. 4 is what i’ve given some of lang’s best noirs from that era and this one should be much lower. this score s*** is annoying at times. worth a watch though, not bad by any means
