off rip this is the only cover I acknowledge for this album.
I got put on Curren$y a lot later than I would've liked (around Pilot Talk 3 era so 2015) but regardless when I started to dive into his vast discography a few projects kept getting recommended... 'Pilot Talk series', 'The Stoned Immaculate', and 'Covert Coup'. Covert Coup contains some of my favorite Alchemist beats, Curren$y sounds hungry yet laid back and chill like at the same time. The features all do they thing. This is probably Curren$y's most focused project and everything comes together so beautifully on it
Project brings me back to the days when my friend was dating this girl that had her own place and use to go to her place every day during the summer and play games and watch movies and just bullshit all day.
Fav Tracks: BBS, The Type, Ventilation, Double 07, Full Metal
Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Had to play some Stevie because it’s his birthday
obviously a 10/10

Damn I've actually never seen this cover before
You right on the alchemist beats, that's what always kept me coming back to the album before spitta's verses got stuck in my head
Glad you fck with it and got a personal connection too

The greatest female artist of all time.

The album is available on every platform.
Thanks for the rec, this is one of the few albums of his that I hadn’t heard. @Demons
I’m in two minds with this. I’ll start by saying that I love how reminiscent this is of the raving scene. I can imagine hearing a few of these songs blaring in a numerous amount of clubs here with the catchy bass lines and wonky synths. It’s very retro in a sense whilst being very detailed & authentic. Can’t do Without You intro lingers for about a min thirty setting the mood with a catchy refrain then the track evolves into a euphoric house track. Loved the subtle phaser effects and heightened synths.
Silver was an instant favourite, infectious vocals gliding effortlessly over 80s inspired synths. The repetitive vocal sample adds character to an already great track. Back-half of the song; That ending!! So sonically pleasing.
All I Ever Need is produced great but kinda leaves me with more to be desired, maybe it’s the vocals and lyrics that don’t really do it for me much but still decent. Enjoyed the breakdown towards the end. Title track has an irresistible groove to it, one of the longer songs on here however it doesn’t overstay it’s welcome, duration was utilised perfectly.
He somehow manages to botch it up after…
It takes a huge nosedive, the songs that follow feel so unnecessary and in my opinion add nothing to the album. Dive should’ve just been titled as an interlude. I find the vocals on Second Chance to not match with the instrumental much and starts to sound grating. Only track that stood out was Mars and that was only due to the flute which I will always find appealing when used right, even still the vocal sample doesn’t add much and drags on for a while before it progresses.
Overall it showed glimpses of beauty, striking tracks overshadowed by unnecessary ones.
Highlights: Silver, Our Love, Can’t Do Without You
Worst: Dive
Rate: 5.5/10

Im glad it was a pleasant experience overall. I agree with most of it too. I wasnt crazy about the entire album at first. It wasnt until 2-3 years ago when I became obsessed with the whole thing. This is why I always say it’s important for any album to have at least 2-3 amazing songs because the more you go back to them, the more the album has a chance to grow on you.
I love Mars but my favorite track from the 2nd half is Julia Brightly which only clocks in at 2min. Somehow that only further proves your point that there are some unnecessary elements sprinkled in some of the tracks.

This was only after one listen, I can see some of the songs growing. Honestly there's a few things on most of the tracks I like, just felt like he could've done more. I'll definitely be returning to it, the highs are pretty damn good.

THE DREAMING BY KATE BUSH (review after 5 listens) @pneumonia
Ive heard few Kate Bush songs here and there before but have never played any of her albums in full. At first Im just taken aback by how many contemporary artists I hear in her songs. Her influence is undeniable. I hear Fiona, Lorde, Beirut, Dirty Projectors etc... Releasing such album in the 80s was probably a very gutsy move because this isn’t the sound I associate with that magnificent decade of music. The production throughout is interestingly layered but remains rudimentary which grounds the album. That is my favorite part of the album because Im not a fan of the vocal stylings at all. Her delivery is very cathartic but Ive never had a breakup like this so it’s hard being in that headspace.
Sat In Your Lap works great as an opener because it immerses you into the album soundscape immediately.
The instrumental during the chorus of There Goes A Tenner is one of my favorite moments of the whole album.
Suspended In Gaffa has a playfulness that I appreciate. Im not sure but I think there’s an accordion there.
The album has a strong ending with the final three tracks. All The Love & Houdini are great piano numbers. Get Out Of My House is the album highlight for me. She saved the best for last. It packs all the sadness and most importantly all the anger of all the previous songs. The guitar riffs are catchy. The dramatic screams are something everyone can relate to after any trauma. The da din dadada outro is very powerful. Some artists use these kind of onomatopoeia when they have a melody in their head but cant find the perfect lyrics that match them. The fact that she included them, right after screaming her lungs out, is the most vivid part of the album. The relationship is over, she went through the process, and now she has nothing left to say (which is why someone else is singing the outro.) But she just has this great melody with her. She still has music and everything that means to her in her heart. She will be ok. (yes I love overanalyzing tiny details hahaha)

This was the album that she used to truly express herself and show how creative she can be, it’s not as accessible as her other albums but it wasn’t intended for that. The storytelling on There Goes a Tenner is so dope and I agree, the beautiful instrumental during the chorus is so stunning.
Seems spot on, it’s very playful and manic with the animal imitations and frantic screams. Album paved the way for artists to branch out and do something different that isn’t traditional within the genre.
Thanks for listening, nothing wrong with overanalyzing art.
