Didn't Adele clear over a million second week?
WAIT @superstar you called the 4M number all the way in August when she did the podcast and stuck to that number the whole time even when I said it would only be 3 at most. How did you know
Didn't Adele clear over a million second week?
Yeah it did. And what’s even crazier is it did over a million again in its 5th week
billboard.com/pro/adele-25-billboard-200-fifth-week-sells-another-million
What Taylor and her team achieved with tloas is nothing short of a masterclass in promotion and execution. We haven’t seen a rollout of this scale and precision in decades. I doubted the initial industry claims about this album being a complete takeover when October hit, but damn was I wrong.
It’s clear they were aiming for a very specific number - 4M.
I knew she was taking that record when I seen her doing an interview while prepping for another 😭 Her work ethic is unmatched. She simply wanted it more.
The craziest part of all, is not the 4M sales but that she made the 4M mark reachable at all for her in good year of 2025.
We’re all aware that pure sales got replaced by streaming nowadays, so how do you go about reviving the entire dead section of the music industry to try and beat record that was set when sales were much more livelier?
It truly boggles the mind how she made this possible.
We’re talking about people excited enough to tune in within the first week of release & setting new heights that way (aka fans), we’re not talking about acts that gained extra plays (and then subsequently, listener count) through a year-long residency on the top 1-3 of TTH + all other major playlists and then had to pay back Spotify all the proceeds generated from the song for the said service. Every single tracks from “Showgirl” an average streams of 20M in the first Day. TTH and playlisting is the last thing responsible for her numbers and audience count.
There’s a fundamental difference between the two and you know it. You’re just trying to muddy the water hoping a less knowledgeable individual wouldn’t know the difference.
Unique listener is a vague statistic similar to monthly listener. You do not know how much of them just listened to a song or two and were counted as a listener lmao. Listening to one song from the album once would count as a unique listener.
Are you seriously saying TAYLOR SWIFT wouldn’t have been auto added atop every influential playlist with pop music upon the first day of her album release? Meaning she could automatically reach new unique listener highs regardless of the engagement per listener.

Bruh the last 5 tracks of her albums still had 14M streams on day 1. You don’t get these numbers on the filler tracks at the bottom through playlists lmao. she just has more f***ing people tuning organically, because she has more fans. Just accept it.

It’s not really hard to fathom she has similar reach as 2023/2024 and due to being a shorter album songs were replayed more first day by fans (thus making a higher average per track but similar overall streaming).

Nobody gaining more fans than ever drops by 97% second week btw

Those bottom of the list filler tracks aren’t getting playlisted though are they? So if shes still doing crazy numbers with track 12 then surely she just have more fking people tuning in at once & not just achieving said numbers through playlisting, right?
So Is it so hard to admit she just have a higher audience count & listeners? Lol

Her new fans preordered her albums just like older fans, all the preorders get shipped out in week 1 regardless of whether you started stanning last year or has been a fan since her debut. It’s a simple concept we all can understand. You do understand it but you’re just choosing not to.

I literally just said she can have the same sized fanbase as TTPD and have higher numbers for lower tracks because of the fact it’s a shorter album. Thus her rabid fans who do nothing but worship her all day would be able to replay each song more times in a day.

Preorders is NOT a new concept so idk why you keep using that as an excuse
They have always existed and she has had them for all her eras.
Every major pop artist does preorders months in advance.
NONE drop by 97% pure second week.

Nobody else drops 97% because nobody else had the fan base to sell 4M? How does the drop percentage help your case in any way? The % just tells you most of her sales are preorders, which everyone already knows is the case.

Adele had preorders for 25 and did not drop 97% second week so why was that?

Again You’re just pretending to be dumber to make a fake point, as if the way people buy albums hasn’t completely changed compared to 2015. Most of 25’s sales were iTunes purchases, they were definitely not webstore preorders. Album sales nowadays are mostly preorders and only diehard fans would spend money & buy them. The casuals all be streaming instead. The drop % literally doesn’t tell you anything regarding fanbase sizes.
Didn't Adele clear over a million second week?
Yes.
Whitney was the first artist to sell 1M+
Did it her 6th week

You said it dropped 97% because it sold so much. I just pointed out another album that sold nearly the same and didn’t have a drop that hard.
Percentage drops make sense to compare because it’s RELATIVE unlike if I noted she dropped 3.4 million in sales second week.
No matter how much you sell, majority albums have similar relative percentage drops.

"21 was the best-selling album of both 2011 and 2012 in the United States and Canada despite being over a year old. It is the first album to be the best-selling album two years in a row since Michael Jackson's Thriller was the best-selling album of 1983 and 1984"

Yea you know your point is fake. The Market and the wat music is sold/consumed has changed fundamentally so the two is literally not comparable. It’s apples to oranges.

Right, “the market change” being Taylor fans buying an album 10 times each first week which inflates her numbers and then causes 97% drops.
This is why people think it’s apple to oranges you actually have the audacity to pretend her first week is as noteworthy.

What did HUT do 2nd week?
Taylor outsold by 3m or something, so I'd have to imagine that drop-off shouldn't be more than 70%?

The market changed cus pure sales is now dead and you know it. I’ve always been saying that the ability to sell 3.5m in the 2010s vs 2020s is Apples and oranges actually. Only dumb people think they’re the same: when 25 set its record, selling millions was still possible without variants. Taylor & Gaga did it, hell even Drake ,a rapper did it. But nowadays? A high pure sales figure is like 300k. Adele only managed like 700k ? TS only managed 800k with folklore? Which makes 25’s record got blown the f*** out even harder, getting smoked when the market has shrunk so drastically. It’s so insane if you think about it without bias.

Oh this doesn’t work in your case unfortunately.
Hurry Up Tomorrow’s sales first week were fishy as hell and propped by webstore digital versions lmao. I pointed this out and got called an hater. Also his only other XO Records artist got caught sending fake first week sales to Billboard this year.
So by bringing up he had a similar % drop as Showgirl what are you suggesting about Showgirl’s first week sales
