Oh this doesn’t work in your case unfortunately.

Hurry Up Tomorrow’s sales first week were fishy as hell and propped by webstore digital versions lmao. I pointed this out and got called an hater. Also his only other XO Records artist got caught sending fake first week sales to Billboard this year.

So by bringing up he had a similar % drop as Showgirl what are you suggesting about Showgirl’s first week sales

I have no idea what % drop off that album had lol it was just the first that came to mind when you were looking for an album that sold decent.

Btw, you know damn well comparing the stability of (pure) sales of an album from 2015 and 2025 is dumb as hell. I get it tho, goat just set the record and people are gonna cope.

Lmao. The power dynamic shifted in this thread the day Taylor announced she was dropping. Even the beef, of which should not be spoken of, has taken a backseat. I hate that it's at the lone swiftie sniper in the bell tower's expense, but it's a bit refreshing.

I literally just said she can have the same sized fanbase as TTPD and have higher numbers for lower tracks because of the fact it’s a shorter album. Thus her rabid fans who do nothing but worship her all day would be able to replay each song more times in a day.

You’re just factually wrong on this megacope, not only her presave and unique listenership went up, her streaming number undoubtedly went up compared to TTPD since it reached ~ 80% of its SEAs while having 1/3rd the tracks. and she’s still taking up 12/12 on AM US & globally right now meaning she’s attracted more audience on AM as well.

She’s gained more fans after TTPD. Just accept it.

lol you knew exactly what you were tryna do bringing up the most frontloaded album of the year before Showgirl. You didn’t ask Sabrina, Billie, etc which would’ve made more sense cause they didn’t drop near 97% second week

Billie was telling fans to mass buy. I'd never include her as an example.

If she gained new fans then she shouldn’t already be selling slower than previously by week 2. It’s not hard to understand.

We’re seeing the two strains of Drake stan go at it.

The Drake stan who only wants to see him at the top of the charts and the Pop Stan who only dabbles in hip hop via Drake

What do you consider this to be encouraging your fans to do?

Her new fans (which will be younger people) bought her stuff online as all her other diehard fans do. All the online orders get shipped out on week 1 so only casuals that pick up CDs in local stores during week 2 (older people) contribute to week 2 sales. So the week 2 numbers does not reflect how many new fans shes gained. At best it only tells you she’s lost a few thousand week 2 buying casuals.

It’s not that hard to understand.

There's a difference between appealing packaging and explicitly telling your fans to mass buy

What's next, is showing other options when a fan is at checkout now considered encouraging mass buying? Or is that just the business of selling albums lol.

"21 was the best-selling album of both 2011 and 2012 in the United States and Canada despite being over a year old. It is the first album to be the best-selling album two years in a row since Michael Jackson's Thriller was the best-selling album of 1983 and 1984"

She sold a full artwork in 4 seperate pieces that have to be bought individually. That is purposely pushing mass buying.

What’s hoopy about it? Newer fans = Younger people, younger people have the new habit of buying stuff online. (Most people do in general now actually)

Any new casuals shes drawn in will just be streaming instead, semi fans/non diehards just won’t buy physicals nowadays.
