Because their 'global' methodology entails converting music revenue (which is already adjusted for pre sale) to U.S $ value effectively making 1 stream from a poorer country worth a fraction of one from a rich one. Maybe racist wasn't the right term but the chart does not represent popular music globally just privileged countries that earn more; otherwise you'd be seeing Latin and Indian artists on there.
But back to the topic, using IFPI and a service half the size of Spotify with numbers nobody knows to gauge popularity is laughable
IFPI is literally the global organization that collates streaming/sales numbers yearly to determine the biggest songs/albums/artists. They're the only ones you can look to for accurate numbers in every music market across the globe. That's like saying the RIAA is racist.
I was expecting a number. Kinda weird to gauge popularity based on a racist revenue based chart (IFPI) and undisclosed numbers. Especially since the biggest streaming service has its numbers available.
Wait was Jack Harlow projected to beat Bad Bunny? That’s silly lol
A lot. He's by far the most streamed artist in Apple Music history.
Spotify too lol

Wouldnt put much stock in forecasts

based on someone's guess yes
Lmao bro when did they start doing this? Last month??
a couple weeks ago, they updated it monday and "forecasted" 125-150k for bad bunny and 160-180k for harlow
Apple Music is where hip-hop dominates. If Jack can't dominate on Apple Music, I fear that Spotify won't be that much better.
I don’t think rap fans care about him that much tbh. Harlow gonna get that don’t listen to rap music Spotify boost.
I think it’ll perform like lil nas x album did first week
two great artists this is not a fight lets just celebrate them both
Why? It’s a fight with other rappers especially wild hate threads…what makes this different?
HDD's forecasts will be laughable after this week, atp im not sure if harlow outsells future's 2nd week
They played themselves with those projections based on nothing concrete.
Spotify too lol
Yep. It's also worth noting that when you add in the streams Drake gets from features as well, he's basically pulling as many streams as Bad Bunny yearly lol. Drake is averaging 10B streams per year (all credits) on Spotify. That's madness.
He surpassed 40B streams in December 2019.
50B streams in January 2021.
60B streams in December 2021.

We'll see. I think Bad Bunny outdoes him.
I'm cool with whatever.
If you’re down to do that then go for it and I’ll sticky and direct sales discussion here

No one is fighting. A little healthy competition never hurt anybody.

Alright.
Was confused with Bad Bunny’s projections
For real and people tried to say to me that Jack will sell more
Was confused with Bad Bunny’s projections
They're underestimating San Benito but not for long.
