@fader Chromakopia 85m streams first day on Spotify lol
After Hours did 58m
Dawn FM 59m
so yeah.. about you arguing with me about this lmao
Ngl I didn't think Tyler would completely destroy Weeknd's numbers like that though. Theyre absolute superstar numbers. Weeknd isn't coming close to 85m with this new album
We’ll see about that
Album is gonna tank hard though, it’s a dope project but not one that’s gonna garnish repeat listens from casual listeners. That second week drop off might be scary
Tyler's US numbers are insane, 46.3m
Dawn FM did 21.6m
Literally over doubled him lol @fader

Why are you comparing his new album with Weeknd’s old album?
Dawn should be compared with CMIGYL.
We’ll see what HUT does, it’ll definitely be bigger than Dawn FM though that’s for sure

This is some top tier hating
I honestly respect that

Because you were calling me dumb for saying Tyler will outstream lol. Meanwhile he's literally lapped Weeknd's last album & Weeknd definitely hasn't grown since Dawn FM, so expecting HUT numbers to increase by a lot like Tyler's is delusional

Weeknd has absolutely grown since Dawn FM.
He was among the most streamed artists all of 2023 and most of this year.
@mangotflu what will your argument be if Chromakopia’s streams drop off a cliff the next few days?
Have we shifted to the first day performance mattering more than anything else? Including the first week?

Then why are these 2 singles doing so terribly lol, no ones talking about HUT anywhere.

They will, because the album is hot TRASH lmao. For that collection of sounds to be called music is an absolute joke
But still, first day streams measure an artists hype, album quality is almost irrelevant for the 1st day

The day before Chromakopia dropped, Timeless was still out-streaming Noid in the US. What are you talking about

HUT probably won’t debut with 85, but I think it’ll absolutely outstream it overall in the first week.
If it ends up having a higher first week, who cares about the first day?

Globally maybe, in the US it has no chance at all unless everyone views the album the same way I do, the gap between these US numbers + weeknd's normal numbers is just way too big

Again, before today, Tyler’s “normal numbers” were half of that amount. Why are you operating under the premise that Weeknd will be at his normal numbers if Tyler isn’t?
There is NOTHING to suggest that Tyler just randomly doubled in popularity and Weeknd didn’t. Weeknd has literally been the king of streaming for the past two years almost.
Again, Timeless was still out-streaming Noid in the US the day before Tyler’s album dropped. If Tyler really is as huge as you say he is, shouldn’t his single have been performing better?

Tyler is an album artist, like Cole, no one cares about their singles. I remember The Off Season and Cole dropping that single a few days before teh album and it doing meh and everyone thinking the album was gonna flop cause of it. The reality is that for some artists people only care about full projects, cole/tyler are in that bucket, Weeknd/Drake etc aren't
Idk man I told you that I saw a lot of talk about Tyler's rollout everywhere, it somehow penetrated a huge % of the internet which HUT's rollout has failed to do. I think that's because Weeknd's fanbase is simply just a lot more casual
If The Weeknd's streaming numbers went DOWN from AH -> Dawn FM, why would they increase from Dawn FM -> HUT? It just doesn't add up. He was at his peak in 20/21, it's only been downhill since then

But they didn’t go down, he’s literally only grown on streaming since 2022
He went from not in the Top 5 in 2021
To #4 in 2022
To #3 in 2023
And he’s gonna finish this year at #2 or #3 for sure

Yeah maybe globally, definitely not in the US which is the sales metric we're talking about. you'd have to be ill to think he's done more units in 2022/2023 than he did in 2020/2021 in the US

ok so let me get this straight
you're trying to tell me that The Weeknd did more streams in 2023+2024, than he did in... 2020+2021?
(in the US)

The 2020 Spotify numbers are not available.
In 2021, he wasn’t in the Top 5.
If I had to make an educated guess, I’d say yes, he did more streams in 2022 + 2023 since he was in the Top 5 in the US in both of those years.
Only info I can find for 2020 is HDD saying that he was 9th in total streams in the US.
He did 3.7M in 2022 and came in 5th.
He did 3.4M in 2020 and came in 9th.
Those are the only two figures I see on HDD @mangotflu

Weeknd propped up by international bots

He outstreams Tyler every year in the US
