How do we get drake fan delusion listed in the DSM6 I seriously think we need to hold a forum
Who cares
You because you're replying to me and following along with this conversation when you only appear in these threads during Drake week
I’m saying the music itself doesn’t change. Like you could sell a blank cd with a cover and get the same result. Fans are obviously not buying it because they want 12 copies of the same album
Artists have done special editions of albums for decades, this is not some new tactic here
No one
Not one person
Is telling Drake to game the system.
Doing a super basic vinyl run with minimal promo for people who care about his music is not gaming the system. It's just something cool to do for fans. Every other artist does it and he's not above that.
Oh I agree he should sell vinyls, his fans deserve them

That's not even true, cheers
No, I’m saying that sales not counting until something ships is a stupid and pointless change Billboard made. If a sale is made, a sale is made.
Information gets lost that way and we are seeing how

Special editions w added songs, not the same as the same album with a different cover lol

Not to the extent Taylor and others do it today knowing they’ll be able to generate mad income off their crazy stanbases. I mean it’s fair play to them for doing it, I just don’t think it should count as a measure of the music itself.
This is an important point.
Them Spotify numbers will make people forget Apple Music exists. Drake absolutely runs Apple Music in the US, and I guarantee he’s the most streamed artists in the US every year on Apple Music.
Idk why Apple Music don't release their numbers fr
I feel like we need a refresher on what the word “gimmick” is because Taylor meets that threshold . It’s not an issue but it is what it is

I would hope Drake is the most streamed artist on AM
He's on twice the amount of playlists than any other artist lol

So this is where u currently live
AM has 25% less US subscribers than Spotify so its better to be the biggest artist on Spotify tbh

These idiots are calling me a drake stan (Which I am very far from ) just because I call out the gimmicks these artists use to inflate their first week numbers

I get around yfm

There’s different kinds of gimmicks tho. Even as a Taylor stan I admit dropping 4-5 alternate covers per-album is excessive, but I don’t think it’s as shameful as dropping your vinyl prices down to $5.

since Scorpion drake has historically gotten 60% of all his streams from Apple Music, so even though Spotify has a bigger US subscriber base, majority of drakes fan base uses Apple music as he is the one who started AM by making Views an AM exclusive

It's because Billboard wants to accurately measure how much an album is being listened to in a week. They can't just allow someone to bundle up their albums or sell vinyl that never even get delivered. All I've been saying is that physical sales are not indicative of the popularity of an album anymore, streaming is. That's just a fact. Physical releases are more like merchandise for the fans to collect at this point

No one is forcing anyone to buy these different covers. It’s just a cool thing for the fans
