radio is a huge factor in the chart. Especially for chart longevity. People can buy the song but without radio it wont chart long.
YOU KNOW DAMN WELL THE RADIO NOT CARRYING THE HOT 100
has nothing to do with what i initially said
this entire thread was originally a kendrick hate thread saying he wasn’t going to sell over 500k, then when the numbers came out and he did way under that, people were using that to detract from the album
to say that no one itt uses sales to inflate their opinions on music is wrong, esp. when that’s why this thread is even partially so big in the first place
Yea this thread was a kendrick hate thread but that doesn't change the fact no one has said x sold more so it's better than y. Most people are making arguments that sales are relative to the artist.
Kendricks album for example based on first day numbers and based on hype did way less than it shouldve. Thats what most people were saying. People just wernt going back to the album. Same with lil uzi pink tape.

yeah no one will outright say x is better than y off of sales or charts because it is essentially an indefensible position lmao, they’ll dress it up with “well it flopped so it wasn’t enjoyable”

I mean if you take radio away the charts would look way different.
kpop has same streams as snooze but is like 20 spots lower because snooze has more radio

That Billie track has more streams then most of the top 10 but stuck at 14 because it barely has any radioplay
they need to kill radio for the charts man that s*** ain’t fair

Some songs would be 40+ spots lower with no radio. Then when it comes to chart longevity thats mainly because radio keeping songs a float.

Well no one is saying that it doesnt play a factor
The point still remains the same about some of yall using sales and charts as a measuring stick for good music even if you don't do it personally
& country niggas dont even have to kill each other to get lit. their stars will be around forever
Lmao you an intellect now

Eh. You can look at numbers and say something flopped because people didn't like it. I mean that has objectively been the case for a lot of things. But a lot of hate on here is just stan wars.
Lmao you an intellect now
i been checked out of rap. i just like gunna.
but its a fact our prominent rap stars who would be charting right now are not around no more
damn
https://twitter.com/talkofthecharts/status/1691107358024609792I for one love country. But I can’t stand that cracker at number one
tbh this country take over has been brewing all year
how many threads were posted in music sxn talking about how dry hip-hop has been this year for the charts, its been nonexistent all year and industry people notice this and music exec start to draft plans to not bleed money by pushing the wrong genre
u can tell music is shifting and the grip that hiphop had is fading
and what happens when the A tier rappers retire like kenny/cole/drake/ye, whos next to carry the torch and release albums that resonate with the masses and mark a cornerstone for that year with their releases. To have that affect, your music has to reach past just hiphop fans and resonate with listeners who normally would not listen to rap. Music execs most likely see this dilemma coming and are pushing to a new genre
thats my 2 cents

these are all points that were made up and down music sxn, except you had opium d***riders, RYM preachers and plugnb truthers essentially telling you everything is fine and you just gotta look underground for good music
funny asf it had to manifest in this way for people to take notice (and even then there’s still people in denial that anything is up about the genre)

i think its just an off year tbh not much different from 2019 except now theres morgan wallen with huge album and taylor swift milking the s*** out if her fans with rereleases.

I actually feel like 2019 was the start of where the genre has fallen to right now

Simply put, white people streaming music they think is good (or is being put in their face)
That's besides the weirdo pushes these right wing songs been given by whomever
damn
https://twitter.com/talkofthecharts/status/1691107358024609792All you gotta do on a song is say things like fat people shouldn’t be on welfare, and conservatives will bounce you to number #1.
I think I’m gonna start making country music
