And wouldn't a more rabid fanbase be a better in the long run than just passive listening with no core fanbase?
The type of music Lil Baby makes dominates streaming (ESPECIALLY Apple Music), plus the majority of Beyonce’s audience is not consuming her music via streaming services
In 2018/2019 yeah, but not anymore. In 2020/2021 Lil Baby was insanely far ahead of every other rapper. Even Future never came close to the numbers he was doing. Since 2022 rap has been falling off hella fast but Lil Baby is still doing wild numbers & outselling a lot of pop artists meanwhilst you guys are discrediting that because he doesn't sell tour tickets lol
It has, but what makes that interesting is it was never meant to be lol. Music like Beyonce was what was always meant to be mainstream & everywhere. Everyone is always shocked when they find out My Turn outsold After Hours by a lot and that's because people aren't used to rappers actually being mainstream
You’re turning the conversation isn’t something else entirely.
All we’re saying is that streaming doesn’t tell the whole story when it comes to who the biggest artists are
It isnt and im not saying streaming isn't more passive lol, im just saying streaming isn't passive in itself, especially on the artists side
What does “passive in itself” mean actually idk if I get that
yeah, thanks to having a rabid fanbase, but now she's been dominated by Lil Baby meanwhile you think that means nothing
bra she’s doing SOLD OUT STADIUMS
LIL BABY JUST HAD TO CANCEL VENUES

See what I mean. Another dumbass discrediting a successful artist for no reason
Beyonce's recent album was generic run of the mill dance music though. For an artist as big as her she should have definitely done a lot better but she's failed at getting the younger (25 and under) generation interested in her music. Whilst Taylor Swift has done an extremely good job at recapturing that audience and it's why she's now arguably at the peak of her whole ass career
There’s so much to unpack here about music accessibility and songwriting that you definitely don’t consider given your first sentence is all about periphery and not execution
See what I mean. Another dumbass discrediting a successful artist for no reason
yeah you gotta be a troll of some sort lmao, imma pray for you man
4m US album units, there's less than 10 artists that have done that in the last 5 years btw
but yeah, apparently it means nothing
yeah you gotta be a troll of some sort lmao, imma pray for you man
you gotta be old as hell or racist
“discrediting a successful artist”
beyonce is essentially the closest we got to an MJ figure (save Kanye) in terms of stature, and you’re putting her down for lil baby
like these niggas on here can’t be serious man

Lil Baby dominates streaming because he makes music that dominates streaming, and he drops 22+ song albums.
It doesn’t mean he’s bigger than BEYONCÉ

My argument isn't that he's bigger though lol, you guys are twisting s***
My argument is that Lil Baby's music is more popular and that you guys go the furthest to discredit artists like Lil Baby, whilst holding up these legacy acts like Beyonce, it comes off as very oldhead. it's some sort of s*** I'd expect to read on /r/popheads
Renaissance isn’t a Drake/Taylor album level smash on streaming cause the production nor songwriting (but ESPECIALLY the songwriting) isn’t the most universally catchy music out there. Nor is it relevant to the spirit or experiences of younger generations the way a Drake, Taylor, Bad Bunny or any mega huge streaming act is
Like just look at the current biggest streaming acts songwriting and content and compare that to Renaissance lmao

No one’s saying it means “nothing”, we’re just saying it doesn’t tell the whole story, especially if he’s struggling to fill up venues.
The way you’re talking, Lil Baby should be on a sold out global stadium tour right now
yeah @mangotflu might just be an idiot lol

You’re the one that said a couple hours ago that Lil Baby is bigger than Beyoncé
Nobody’s discrediting him, you just invited him open to criticism by saying he’s bigger than BEYONCÉ of all people
As for the Lil Baby and Beyonce thing tho, Lil Baby’s music is currently more popular than Beyoncé’s for sure. It’s like a million arguments are happening at once tho lol

Man J Cole's recent album The Fall Off was streamed 2-3x more than Beyonce's and that has 10x more intricate songwriting than her album. That's a s*** excuse
