The issue with the "who is the better rapper" conversation is that with most mainstream rappers from the blog era and prior, ALL them dudes could spit when it came down to it. Once you establish that, it then becomes a discussion of whose technical style/approach you appreciate more but even that doesn't get weighed as much as who is able to just straight up make the better music.

Cole is an elite rhymer but so are Kendrick and Drake and they both make better music than Cole. Even a debate about Cole being that much more skilled technically than them isn't one he'd win easily lol.

I would say it was family matters. He used every skill that made him great and threw it all into one diss track.

Even though personally I prefer push ups I think family matters was the track that showed why Drake is viewed the way he’s viewed as a rapper

Family Matters and Push Ups are witty and somewhat entertaining, but that’s about it.

His bars are never that crazy like niggas made it out to be for so many years. He got carried by the fact that he’s a hitmaker and good songwriter.

    But lyricist, nooooooooooo

Yeah that song would’ve gotten any other rapper out of here.

Kendrick really stomped that song out in less than an hour. S*** is crazy. When you really think about it he saved niggas like Ross and Weeknd from getting fried cause nobody even cared about those shots once MTG came out

Man if Drake battled all them niggas without Kendrick that s*** woulda been wicked he woulda torched em

I just listened to Cole's new EP / mixtape and it was cool, but nothing that's blowing the entire game out of the water..

I think there are a few verses where Cole genuinely leaves earth or just goes in on a concept that really excites me, but I think 80% of his discog isn't really that Amazing in terms of sheer bars

Kendrick replying within 30 mins AND saving other rappers in the process? Kendrick is a Good Samaritan

Until Cole can make an album that shows off his lyrical abilities AND be something that you wanna hear more than just once or twice he will always be a 3rd place ass artist

Sorry Cole stans but thats just how it is

It will never change no matter what

    Their legacies are solidified

ghostwriter or writer, whatever term you wanna use, he can’t be compared to Cole because Cole wrote all his stuff

Well, actually, you don't know that any rapper wrote all their stuff. All you know are those who have claimed to do that but many OG rappers in latter years of their careers have come out to admit that they've received assistance at one point or the other with some bars lol.

Something even happened in this A$AP Rocky release week that people casually ignored. Rocky ignored that DaBaby had helped him with some lyrics and everyone just ignored that s*** lmao.

What I’m saying is when people are rating them in the future the work that Kendrick and Drake will be rated off of is already out

However you rank them isnt going to change

JID hard for sure but outside of his flow he not really a lyricist like that. He can be at times but not really what he focuses on tbh

Look, man. Cole has always been nice and he has somehow managed to get even better as time has passed but it doesn't weigh as much in these conversations because he hasn't found a way to translate that into making better records. I feel like while Kendrick was a more raw, lyrical type A rapper at the beginning of his career, he eventually learned how to fine-tune his skill set into being able to make better records while not losing his edge. Drake has done the same but only Cole is still only prioritizing just pure bars over musicality.

I’m not saying it as a criticism I’m just saying I don’t think s*** is gonna change much even if they drop more duds or even classics
