Cole fans are fully convinced clouds is the pinnacle of rapping
I said what I said
I’ve been called a Kendrick Stan on this site before lol
I can spit this nigga verses front to back cadence for cadence, I know how great he is lol. And he’s a way better ARTIST than Cole by a lot and is way better at making songs and albums. The nigga Kendrick got TWO of the greatest rap albums of all time, FHD a classic but no where near that revered.
But we not talking about overall talent right now. We talking bar for bar flow for flow skill for skill, none of them verses on GNX is like that, stop it. MAYBE Euphoria… NLU is not like that… Like That was not like that… MMTBS (even though it was a beautiful album probably better than every Cole project) was NOT like that lyrically. Kendrick that nigga man arguably top 5 rap artist ever but respectfully Cole pen has been sharper than his in the 2020s that’s just a fact
You’re acknowledging he’s better at songsas a rapper…guess what it’s cause he’s better at flowing and “technicality”. It literally can’t be anything else
Cole uses a million syllables per minute with no silences and niggas think that makes him better technically. F*** no. Bro can’t touch Kendrick with a 12 inch pole that nigga is playing dress up
I wonder how many pages KTT has filled over the years with Big 3 arguments
Has to be terabytes worth of data

So thats why squabble up comes on and everyone can say the whole song note for note?
To expound on @Brave point, the difference between kendrick and cole that plays in kendrick’s favor is versatility. Kendrick can turn IT off and on whenever he wants to. He spent the entire ‘10s being this lyrical rapper with a commercial edge and now ‘20s decided “i just want to write to the listener’s heart directly.” so turning down the lyricism and just keeping it simple while precise (i call it the difference between old earl and new earl, why i prefer the latter in this way)
He literally said on the 1st track on GNX that (This is not for lyricists, I swear it's not the sentiments
F*** a double entendre, I want y'all to feel this s***)
We see with the drake disses that kendrick can clearly turn IT on but why is it necessary to “prove” i can rap on every album after…I’ve already done that (aka the present eminem dilemma). He already gave us one of the greatest displays of emceeing ever on Momma. Cole on his best day now is not reaching the flow state highs of that song and that’s ok.
Mr Morale did more TO me as a listener emotionally than any of cole’s projects or any of kendrick’s earlier projects. And to me that “doing to the listener” effect is something to me cole has only accomplished via certain songs (e.g. See World, Window Pain, etc.) but not an entirely whole piece of work.
He’s a great lyricist yes. But like someone said a long time ago, with kendrick you can tell the s*** is just kinda natural & with cole you can tell he had to work at it.
And nothing is wrong with that.
SB: Also give Cole that Worldwide Steppers beat I dont think he’ll know what to do with that tbh. Mandem wasted one of his best beats ever (born sinner trailer ending) and said it was too good he aint know what to do with it.

Oh wow. That’s a wild take to be said lmao.

I don’t disagree with a word you saying
I’m not saying Kendrick lacks the ability to do what Cole does lyrically at all
I’m just stating the simple objective fact that for the most part in the 2020s he has not been doing it while Cole has lol
Kendrick dumbed it down a tad bit to focus on being versatile like you said and to get more creative with the flows and song writing and to connect with the listener in a more tangible way. Respect that all day. Jay-Z kind of went a similar route.
But Cole spent the 20s challenging himself to get better and better from a technical standpoint and has been consistently delivering high level verses packed with dense schemes, wordplay, bars, double entendres, etc. Yes it is the more labored approach but the results still speak for themselves. Just this year alone (Its still January) he’s released his interpretation of the classic Rewind and rapped his whole life backwards from Death to birth while rhyming the ends of each bar with the word reverse the entire song and now he drops a 4 pack freestyle EP hosted by DJ Clue where he destroys some of the most iconic rap beats? When are we gonna give the nigga his credit sheesh
I’ve always been on record saying that IMO the big 3 is about evenly matched skill wise when at full strength Drake is just lazy asf and Kendrick just locked in creatively coming for that Kanye best discography spot. Cole tryna be the best rapper
Edit: and yeah I agree Cole not dancing on Worldwide Steppers like Kendrick did
I love 616 but I think mtg is better tbh
In terms of a diss it has my favorite lines out the whole battle
I mean lyrics and technicality it’s not close . Better dirt and going at Drake yes not like us and meet the grahams .

Next nigga to say technical need to get shot in they head
Technically is the new word slop

I mean we are just saying lyricism in short
Next nigga to say technical need to get shot in they head
When I say lyricism people pretend to not understand
I mean we are just saying lyricism in short
Okay then I like the lyrics more on meet the grahams
Not because of the dirt because of the approach. 6:16 was more “technical” but MTG lyrics stuck me more
Not a big gap though the songs are close for me, but just because something is more “technical” doesnt mean I have to like it better
Its niggas who are more technical than Pac but Pac is my favorite rapper because I feel his lyrics
It’s impossible to say Kendrick didn’t dumb it down some to be more tangible to a wider audience . It’s simply fact while at same time songs like 616 and reincarnated shine . He is good at balancing . I love euphoria and he has songs you can dig deeper on if you so choose . Cole makes lyrically dense songs that at time have less replay ability day to day . Similiar to a Lupe or Nas but a lot of meaning .

We didn’t say you have to like it better it’s just less lyrical . Meet the grahams was still a moment
The lyrics on 616 and meet the grahams / not like us is a large gap
Not like us is extremely dumbed down but it was a smart time to dumb it down to make it accessible to the public
Cole better than Drake, but not sure about Kendrick. I've always thought Drake would wash Kendrick but I was horribly wrong on that front. Will never doubt Kenny again. Both are really good at the end of the day
I dont think Cole’s pen is sharper I just think he raps more traditionally
I think Kendrick can still rap like that too matter of fact I know he can because he did it on Heart Pt 6 and 616 but I just don’t think he finds it that engaging to do which is why his music is better
There are Morale joints that are way better writing than Cole’s s*** to me they just dont have the basic structure cole’s song have
Exactly. United in Grief, N95 and Worldwide Steppers are all better technically than Coles recent output while having way better song structures
